·    Liaise with brokers and Supply Chain to support the smooth movement of goods across borders and ensure customs holds and delay costs are identified and accounted for.

Classification, Origin and Product Data

·    Prepare first-pass Canadian and U.S. HS tariff classifications for new products, including a concise written rationale for approval.

·    Maintain accurate product classification and origin records, including Canadian and U.S. tariff codes and supporting documentation.

·    Collect supplier specifications, product composition, bills of materials, SKU lists and origin evidence to support classification and origin determinations.

·    Prepare CUSMA certifications using approved origin documentation and maintain accurate certification records.

·    Coordinate corrections for missed CUSMA claims and incorrect or missing origin data on commercial invoices.

·    Provide required customs and origin documentation to internal stakeholders and end-user customers.

Charges, Payments and Reconciliation

·    Review broker, bond, detention and storage invoices before payment; match fees to shipments, identify invalid charges and track credits.

·    Support monthly customs statement and payment processes in Canada and the United States.

·    Perform monthly customs reconciliations across relevant records and systems, investigate discrepancies and support timely resolution.

·    Maintain organized supporting documentation and reconciliations for customs compliance programs.

·    Ensure data integrity across electronic filings with brokers and government agencies.

Accounts, Reporting and Regulatory Monitoring

·    Support administration of customs portals, bonds and related government accounts.

·    Minimum five years of customs and trade operations experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment.

·    Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. customs requirements, international trade compliance, security practices and cross-border shipment documentation.

·    Strong technical knowledge of trade agreements, including CUSMA/USMCA, tariff classification, origin and related customs legislation.

·    Hands-on experience working with Canadian and U.S. customs authorities; experience with CBP, ACE reports, entry data and CBP Form 7501 is a strong asset.

·    Knowledge of U.S. trade measures, including Section 232, Section 301 and anti-dumping/countervailing duties, is an asset.

·    Certified Customs Specialist designation is an asset.

·    Experience in an advanced ERP environment; JDE experience is preferred.

·    Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including XLOOKUP or VLOOKUP, PivotTables, filters, data cleanup and reconciliation of large data sets.

Core Capabilities

·    High attention to detail and disciplined recordkeeping.

·    Ability to prioritize a high volume of requests, meet challenging deadlines and follow issues through to closure.

·    Sound judgment to distinguish routine work from matters requiring escalation.

·    Clear written and verbal communication with internal teams, brokers, carriers, suppliers and government agencies.
