About this Tooling Manufacturing Engineer role at Footprint
General Job Description:
The Tooling Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of tooling, fixtures, molds, gauges, and support equipment used in manufacturing processes. The primary objective is to ensure that tools and equipment enable safe, efficient, repeatable, and high-quality processes while contributing to production, cost, and delivery objectives. Additionally, the role is responsible for calculating the service life of critical tooling components from both mechanical and electrical perspectives.
Main Responsibilities:
- Design and develop tooling, fixtures, and devices for manufacturing processes.
- Coordinate the fabrication, modification, and maintenance of production tools.
- Analyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for improvement in productivity, ergonomics, and quality.
- Manage tooling projects from concept through implementation.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Purchasing departments.
- Validate new tooling through testing, pilot runs, and capability studies.
- Prepare engineering drawings, technical specifications, and engineering documentation.
- Manage tooling suppliers and ensure compliance with technical requirements and delivery schedules.
- Implement continuous improvement initiatives using methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.
- Provide technical support for troubleshooting issues related to manufacturing tools and equipment.
Requirements
Requirements:
- Degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
Knowledge and Experience:
- 5 years of experience in a similar position.
- Knowledge in tool room operations, CNC, machining, electrical controls, electrical testing, welding, automation, blueprint reading, and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Office (Word, Excel, Power Point). Solidworks, Minitab.
- Intermediate English proficiency (70%)
