The Tool Integration Electrical Engineer I/II will drive the embedded systems design and implementation for battery-powered outdoor equipment, with a focus on power electronics, motor control, sensors, switches, harnesses, and connectors. You will work through the product development process in a team environment interacting with cross-functional stakeholders such as hardware, firmware, product development, and test engineers. This position will sit onsite at our headquarters in Anderson, South Carolina.

Primary Job Functions:

  • Under supervision of senior engineers, execute hardware systems development for new cordless tools, including the design of PCBA hardware and wiring, and the selection of switches, connectors and electronic components.
  • Support prototype assembly, troubleshooting, and demonstration to cross-functional team members.
  • Modify and expand upon existing embedded firmware as needed for new product offerings.
  • Use laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, ESD testers, and data acquisition systems to debug and develop your designs.
  • Conduct experiments, perform simulations, and draw concise, logical conclusions by analyzing data.
  • Work with other engineers to create and amend test plans for new product categories. 
  • Work with cross-functional teams for trade-off discussions related to new product development.
  • Demonstrate high performance and agility by independently creating Work Breakdown Structures for your work, driving to critical milestones, and communicating candidly up and down the organization on project progress and risk mitigation.
  • With support from the Regulatory team, ensure new product designs are compliant with applicable regulatory standards such as UL, TÜV, CEC, CE, CPSC, and ANSI.

Required Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • 0.5 to 4 years of experience in embedded electronics design with strong hardware skills, including 32-bit microcontroller-based circuits (exposure to firmware, power electronics, EMI/EMC, and harness design is a plus). Relevant internships, co-ops, research, and even hobbies may be factored into overall experience.
  • Experience with engineering design tools such as PCBA schematic/layout and circuit simulation software. Familiarity with embedded C development tools (IDEs, compilers, debuggers) is a big plus.
  • Understanding of battery-powered tool architecture and circuits as well as related troubleshooting and validation of circuit changes.
  • Knowledge of electronic component selection and design tradeoffs.
  • Ability to scrutinize designs for optimization, continuous improvement and cost reduction opportunities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and multi-tasking skills, ability to exercise independent judgment and work well under pressure in a dynamic environment.
  • Proven ability to create a Work Breakdown Structure, drive projects to completion, communicate progress, and escalate roadblocks to management when needed.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time, including domestic and international, specifically Vietnam.
