The Sr. Manager, Tianjin Final Assembly Line (FAL) Operations serves as Pratt & Whitney’s (IAE) on-site leader supporting Airbus Tianjin delivery operations for the PW1100G commercial engine program.

This position is responsible for coordinating Pratt & Whitney industrial, operational, quality, customer, and delivery support activities from engine arrival through aircraft delivery. The role oversees the local field service and operational support teams involved in new engine installation and acts as a primary interface between Airbus Tianjin, airline customers, and internal Pratt & Whitney organizations.

The Manager ensures effective execution of engine integration, configuration management, retrofit implementation, technical issue resolution, aircraft delivery readiness, and customer commitments while maintaining compliance with safety, quality, and operational requirements. This position also contributes to the broader global FAL network by sharing best practices and supporting cross‑site operational improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Site Leadership & Business Management

Serve as Pratt & Whitney’s on-site leader supporting Airbus Tianjin FAL and flight line operations.

Lead and develop the local site team, including workforce planning, performance management, and employee engagement.

Manage site-level business performance including resource planning, operating budget adherence, issue resolution, and capability development using CORE OS tier processes.

Execute site strategies supporting production rate growth, industrial recovery, operational readiness, tooling and material availability, and long-term business requirements.

Act as an effective interface between Pratt & Whitney, Airbus Tianjin, airline customers, IAE partners, and internal functional organizations.

Support customer engagements, operational reviews, and reconciliations related to delivery commitments, configuration management, and industrial performance.

Delivery, Industrial & Program Execution

Ensure on-time execution of engine integration, installation, testing, acceptance, removals, and aircraft delivery activities.

Maintain contractual onsite technical support performance, including required response times and issue closure expectations.

Lead cross-functional problem-solving to address delivery constraints and support recovery plans.

Oversee configuration management, retrofit execution, engineering changes, service bulletins, tooling readiness, and material availability needed for customer and production commitments.

Monitor operational performance and drive corrective actions to improve safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.

Quality, Technical & Risk Management

Ensure compliance with Pratt & Whitney, IAE, Airbus, regulatory, and customer quality requirements.

Lead local resolution of technical, operational, and customer issues impacting delivery performance.

Drive root‑cause/corrective action and risk mitigation activities to support safe, compliant operations.

Maintain ownership of environmental health & safety performance and ensure adherence to all operational compliance requirements.

Global Functional Leadership & Continuous Improvement

Foster a culture of dependable and timely performance that aligns with Pratt & Whitney’s brand and values.

Support deployment of operational best practices across the global Airbus FAL network.

Participate in cross‑site initiatives to standardize processes, improve operational execution, and support strategic business objectives.

Provide site-level input and updates to Pratt & Whitney leadership concerning operational performance, risks, constraints, and recovery plans.

Champion CORE principles and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, quality, delivery, cost, and customer satisfaction.

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

Hybrid: Employees who are working in Hybrid roles will work regularly both onsite and offsite. Ratio of time working onsite will be determined in partnership with your leader.

Remote: Employees who are working in Remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home). If you live within a reasonable commute of an RTX site with other colleagues you interact with, your manager will discuss whether there is a degree of onsite presence associated with this role.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.

Requires broad management and leadership knowledge to lead project teams.

Typically requires: A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience

Engineering/Other Technical Positions: Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
