Theatre Practitioner - Ophthalmic Scrub

York Hospital | Ophthalmic Scrub | Permanent | Part time

Includes weekend work and on call
Up to £39,750 pro rata per annum depending on skills and experience

22.5 hours per week

As an Ophthalmic Scrub Theatre Practitioner at our York Hospital, you will be registered with the appropriate professional governing body (NMC or HCPC) and hold the qualifications and experience relevant to your registration. You will bring valuable post-registration experience, excellent communication skills, and a flexible, proactive approach to your work. Above all, you will be a committed team player who is passionate about delivering outstanding patient care in a theatre environment.

In addition to your ophthalmic expertise, you will also work across a range of surgical specialties, including:

  • Orthopaedics

  • General Surgery

  • Gynaecology

  • Laparoscopic Surgery

  • ENT

  • Urology

  • Pain Management

  • Spinal Surgery

  • Maxillofacial Surgery

  • Breast Surgery

A Surgical First Assistant (SFA) qualification is desirable but not essential. Candidates who do not currently hold this qualification may have the opportunity to undertake SFA training in partnership with De Montfort University, supporting their ongoing professional development and career progression.

As an Ophthalmic Scrub Theatre Practitioner, you will:

  • Supervise, support and develop junior members of staff

  • Create high-quality care and patient experiences that are clinically effective and evidence based
