General Summary:

 

The Department of Art, Theatre and Dance at West Texas A&M University invites applications for Theater Facility Coordinator. This position requires demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of set construction, including power tool use and welding, maintenance and instruction of safety protocols in the shop, manage rental property within and external to WTAMU, assisting with the planning, purchase and acquisition of required materials in cooperation with the technical director, to attend department and program production meetings, and manage student employees working in the scene shop.  Additionally, the position requires some technical knowledge of lighting and audio systems, and modern production tools like CNC, 3D printers, and laser cutters. Successful candidates will also be able to maintain the theatre spaces during the production season and over summers. Candidates with an MA or MFA degree in theater production design or related field will may have the opportunity to teach courses.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and instruction of safety protocols in the shop.
  • Responsible for all aspects of set construction, including power tool use and welding.
  • Manage rental property within and external to WTAMU.
  • Assist in purchase and acquisition of required materials in cooperation with the technical director.
  • Attend department and program production meetings.
  • Manage student employees working in the scene shop.
  • Maintains 100% compliance with timely completion of required System, University and job-specific online training courses.

Necessary Qualifications:

  • High School diploma.
  • Three (3) years of related experience in theatre (and/or production) shop management and demonstrated experience working on set construction, management of shop workers and understanding of safety protocols.
  • Demonstrated background in theatrical construction.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with student workers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Theatre.
  • Five (5) years of related experience.
  • Demonstrated background in sound engineering, lighting, rigging, and electrics.
  • Experience with theatre related technologies like lighting and audio systems, and modern production tools like CNC, 3D printers, and laser cutters.
  • Experience with budgets and purchasing
