To strengthen our software test team, we are looking for a passionate and technically strong:

Test Automation Engineer (m/f/d)

 

Software quality is mission-critical at Agilent. Our applications support laboratories worldwide, helping scientists generate reliable results that influence research, diagnostics, and regulatory decisions.

As a Test Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in building and evolving our test automation capabilities. You will work as part of an agile, international development team and influence both product quality and engineering excellence from the earliest stages of development.

We are looking for an engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, improving development efficiency, and leveraging modern automation technologies, including AI-assisted testing solutions.

Your Responsibilities:

• Design, implement, and maintain scalable automated test frameworks for desktop, web, and enterprise software solutions

• Develop reliable, maintainable, and efficient automated tests integrated into modern CI/CD pipelines

• Partner closely with Software Engineers, Product Owners, Quality Engineers, and DevOps teams to establish effective quality strategies

• Drive a shift-left quality approach by embedding automation early in the software development lifecycle

• Identify, analyze, and troubleshoot defects, automation failures, and test infrastructure issues

• Evaluate and apply AI-powered testing technologies to improve test generation, maintenance, execution, and defect analysis

• Continuously improve test coverage, automation maturity, release confidence, and engineering productivity

• Contribute to technical discussions, risk assessments, and quality decisions across the development lifecycle

• Collaborate effectively with external partners and suppliers to ensure high-quality deliverables and successful project outcomes

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Life Sciences or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience

• Several years of experience in software test automation, software quality engineering, or software development

•  Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, quality engineering principles, and test automation frameworks

•  Experience testing modern cloud-based and distributed applications.

• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes in development, testing, or deployment environments

• Experience working in Agile development teams

• Practical experience using AI-assisted development or testing tools to improve software quality and engineering efficiency

• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a continuous improvement mindset

• Excellent English communication skills; German language proficiency is an advantage

• Knowledge of laboratory workflows, scientific software, analytical instrumentation, or instrument control software is a bonus

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
