Position Overview
This role is an opportunity to lead the delivery of AI-enabled digital products and enterprise-grade technology solutions that transform bp Shipping’s operations, improve decision-making, and unlock measurable value across commercial, voyage, vessel optimisation, and operational workflows. Reporting to the Principal Enterprise Technology Engineer, the Staff Product Manager will manage squads that design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and efficient platforms, with AI capability, product delivery discipline, cybersecurity compliance, and vendor collaboration at the core of the role. The position is based in Singapore with an expectation to work onsite four times per week.
Team Leadership and Collaboration
Within the technology domain, the post-holder will lead a Digital squad composed of shipping subject matter experts. Close teamwork is required with business Change Leads, Product Owners, Solution Architects, and vendors to ensure alignment and delivery of business objectives.
Expertise and Experience Requirements
The ideal candidate must demonstrate strong experience leading AI-enabled digital product delivery, including identifying practical AI opportunities, shaping use cases, managing delivery squads, and translating data, workflow, and automation capabilities into measurable business outcomes. Maritime, Shipping Chartering, Commercial Operations, Voyage and Vessel Optimisation experience is preferred and would be advantageous, but candidates with strong AI product delivery, enterprise technology, SaaS, data, integration, and transformation experience from adjacent industries will also be considered. The candidate will have excellent communications, stakeholder management and vendor management skills. 7 years+ experience in handling Digital Teams that manage custom development, SaaS based solutions and integrations. A strong ability to understand and facilitate gathering of collaborator requirements with experience in design thinking techniques. Experience in DevOps, agile methods, integration design, release pipelines, data visualisation and data management. Candidates should hold a degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, or a related field.
Essential attributes include the ability to lead AI-enabled product discovery and delivery, assess where AI, automation, data insights, and workflow optimisation can create business value, and work with architects, vendors, and business teams to implement responsible, secure, and scalable solutions. Desirable attributes include maritime domain knowledge, IoT, low-code platform development, cybersecurity frameworks and regulatory requirements. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are critical, as is the capacity to prioritise within a fast-paced environment. A strong dedication to compliance and security standards is required.
Technical Skills and Competencies
Essential:
- 7+ years of leading Digital Delivery teams.
- Strong demonstrable collaborator leadership skills.
- Experience leading AI-enabled digital product delivery, including discovery, prioritisation, implementation, and adoption of AI use cases.
- Experience in responsible AI implementation, including data insights, workflow efficiencies, automation, model governance, adoption planning, and measurable value tracking.
- Ability to translate data, automation, and AI opportunities into practical product roadmaps and measurable business outcomes.
- Experienced in business transformation implementing business driven change programmes.
- Demonstrate the ability to drive innovation through delivering business outcomes.
- Proven track record to diagnose sophisticated system issues and implement sustainable solutions.
- Experience in business intelligence Data visualisation tools.
- Solid understanding of Azure DevOps, Power BI, and Grafana.
- Preferred: knowledge of Maritime Chartering, Commercial Operations, Voyage and Vessel Optimisation applications.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with additional SaaS platforms including Sedna Stream, ZeroNorth Optimise, and Danelec.
- Experience of low-code platforms such as Power Platform and Copilot studio.
- Experience of leading streaming data from systems on vessels.
Stakeholder and Vendor Management
- 5+ years in coordination with vendors, contract negotiation, and encouraging cross-team collaboration.
- Good understanding of cybersecurity frameworks, and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with vendors on contract reviews, tiering assessments, and influence their roadmap and solution improvements.
- Conduct impact assessments for application changes and handle collaborator communications relating to technology rollouts.
Agility and Innovation
- Drive AI-enabled innovation for the Shipping business with a focus on safety, optimisation, profitability, productivity, and responsible adoption.
- Embrace agile practices and facilitate sprint audits, driving continuous improvement and rapid delivery.
- Participate in product reviews and multi-functional meetings to ensure technology deliverables align with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Management of the Technology Delivery Team to meet the business requirements. Including robust Service Management of the existing systems and delivery of new systems.
- Ensure Digital Security and legislation compliance.
- Oversee Opex and Investment budget for team costs and licences, including the submission of proposals for investments.
- Vendor management, collaborate to ensuring robust delivery of their services ensuring contractual commitments are met including availability, integrity and security.
- Drive AI-led innovation and transformation for the area of responsibility, identifying high-value use cases and maximising measurable business benefits.
- Provide technical leadership by supporting the integration architect, mentoring peers, and influencing design decisions.
- Support risk-based user access reviews and uphold privileged access controls for critical assets.
- Develop the team’s skills to ensure that they become technical SME’s and Domain specialised.
