About Fuse

We are building one of the most potentially consequential companies of the century. Our mission is to accelerate the world's transition to fusion energy while safeguarding humankind. This is not a normal company. This is not a normal job. We are committed for the long term to win.

About the Role

You will work directly under the engineering team to keep Fuse's pulsed-power systems running — executing preventive and corrective maintenance, fabricating solutions, and troubleshooting issues with urgency and precision.

Core Responsibilities

  • Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on pulsed-power machines and associated systems under Engineering direction to maintain full facility availability.

  • Assemble, maintain, and replace hardware across vacuum, oil, and pressurized-air systems including pumps, valves, seals, and gauges.

  • Prepare HV/LV wiring harnesses and route control-panel wiring per engineering drawings and schematics.

  • Read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings, assembling and fabricating components to exact specification.

  • Support facility upkeep, maintenance, and upgrades across plumbing, heating, compressed air, and sanitary systems to ensure a safe and fully operational work environment.

  • Communicate clearly with Engineers, flagging issues early, reporting work status accurately, and confirming instructions are fully understood before execution.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience building and integrating complex mechanical and electrical systems.

  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and compressed-air systems including installation, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.

  • Extensive experience with hand and machine tools.

  • Demonstrated experience working in environments where attention to detail and strict safety adherence are non-negotiable.

  • Demonstrated experience communicating and coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams, translating field observations into clear and actionable feedback.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to read mechanical design drawings and electrical/wiring diagrams.

  • Experience with vacuum and pulsed-power systems.

  • Experience as an electrical contractor.

  • Welding experience using MIG, TIG, or stick.

  • Experience working in a machine shop.

  • Certifications in forklift, scissor lift, fall protection, rigging and crane, or lockout/tagout.

What We Value

  • Give a shit. Build things you're proud of.

  • Take responsibility. If something is broken and you can fix it, fix it. See things through.

  • Move fast. Make decisions, learn quickly, and keep moving forward.

  • Think bigger. Simplify relentlessly. Don't default to the safe answer.

  • Disagree and commit. The best idea wins. Once a decision is made, we move.

  • Desire to win. This is hard. Expect intensity. We are here to win.

  • Plan B is to make Plan A work.

Physical Requirements

Able to stand or sit for extended periods during machine operation.

Able to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds.

Consistent use of required PPE, including eye, hearing, hand, and foot protection.

Understanding and adherence to lockout/tagout procedures and safe machine operation.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.

  • Relocation assistance for roles that require it.

  • Flexible time off. Take what you need, no accrual tracking.

  • 2 weeks of paid time off built into the end of each year, subject to team and business needs.

  • Supportive leave of absence policies.

  • Paid leave for new parents.

ITAR Requirements

To conform to U.S. Government technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
