Who You Are

We believe that great design is at the heart of this mission and we’re looking for a curious, empathetic, and passionate Contract Technical Writer to join our Experience Design Team. This is an exciting opportunity to craft content that is not only engaging and effective but also integral to the overall user experience.
As a Contract Technical Writer, you'll work with a cross-functional team that includes product management, product marketing, operations, and customer success to document our organization's expertise and create repeatable processes that enable us to deliver excellence to our clients.
This role will require a combination of user-centricity, empathy for people facing and resolving complex challenges in a highly regulated environment, and the ability to communicate efficiently and effectively, with clarity and precision.
In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating the intake of knowledge from subject matter expert stakeholders. You will lead interviews (in-person and virtual), ask the right questions, and produce the documentation that captures those SME's expertise.

- Create user-friendly documentation of processes and workflows
- Write, edit, and review documentation to maintain a high level of quality
- Follow internal accepted standards for style, structure, and tone
- Perform other related responsibilities as needed based on department and/or organizational needs

As a Contract Technical Writer, how results are achieved is paramount for your success and ultimately result in our success as an organization. In this role, your foundational knowledge, skills, abilities and personal attributes are anchored in the following:
- Demonstrated ability to create high-quality written knowledge content
- Ability to make complicated processes understandable
- Understanding of contemporary practices for creating content that is accessible, usable, and well-structured
- Ability to work as part of a mulit-disciplinary design team
- Willingness to pivot when needed to accommodate shifting priorities.

Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 – 7 years of experience in editorial content writing, knowledge management, or journalism
- A portfolio of work or similar samples of relevant writing
- A background in journalism (or similar expository writing) is preferred
- This role is a hybrid remote / in-person at our New York City office. Please expect to be in the office 2-3 days a week.
This is a fixed term contract role for 6 months. This position is paid on an hourly basis, at a rate of $60-75 per hour, depending on experience.

Actual compensation is based on multiple factors that are unique to each candidate, including and not limited to skill set, level of relevant experience, and specific work location. Salary ranges for positions based in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
