About this Technical Field Engineer role at Hadrian Automation
Hadrian - Manufacturing the Future
Hadrian is building autonomous factories to reindustrialize America. By combining AI, advanced software, robotics, and full-stack manufacturing, we help aerospace and defense companies build rockets, satellites, aircraft, ships, and other mission-critical systems up to 10x faster and at significantly lower cost.
Following our $1.37B Series D at a $7.87B valuation, Hadrian is rapidly expanding our manufacturing footprint, launching new capabilities across welding, casting, forging, electronics, additive manufacturing, and more, while scaling our Factory-as-a-Service platform to transform how critical products are built.
Backed by leading investors including JPMorgan Chase, Valor Equity Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Founders Fund, 137 Ventures, Lux Capital, T. Rowe Price, and Morgan Stanley, we’re building the future of American manufacturing—and looking for exceptional people to help make it happen.
If you’re ready to take on the most challenging and rewarding work of your career while helping create American manufacturing jobs for generations to come, you’re exactly who we’re looking for.
The Role
Hadrian is scaling fast, standing up new factories and expanding existing ones across the country. We’re looking for a Technical Field Engineer to be the person on the ground who brings new IT infrastructure to life. This is a hands-on, travel-heavy role focused on standing up IT at new sites and deploying hardware for new manufacturing lines at existing facilities.
Early in each project you’ll work closely with the Manager of IT Deployment on planning, scoping, and documentation. As projects move to execution, you’ll be on-site doing the physical work: racking and cabling infrastructure, deploying network and endpoint hardware, and getting sites production-ready. You’ll partner with the central IT, infrastructure, network, security, and helpdesk teams throughout.
You’ll also work side by side with the Factory Development team, who own the manufacturing machinery and the construction of the site itself. Both teams are on the ground together to stand up new factories and add machinery to existing ones, so aligning IT deployment with machine installation and the overall buildout is central to the role.
What You’ll Do
Planning & Documentation
Partner with the Manager of IT Deployment on project planning, scoping, and requirements for new sites and line expansions
Build and maintain deployment documentation: runbooks, network diagrams, rack elevations, and asset records
Document as-built conditions and keep site records accurate as the build progresses
Work with architects and designers to ensure any changes or modifications are captured and documented as part of the process
Develop repeatable deployment playbooks so each site launch is faster and more consistent than the last
Track project status, timelines, and materials, and flag risks early
Site Standup & Hardware Deployment
Travel to new and existing factories to stand up IT infrastructure and deploy hardware
Rack, cable, and configure network gear (switches, WAPs, firewalls) and supporting infrastructure
Deploy and configure endpoints, peripherals, and shop-floor devices for new manufacturing lines
Work with vendors to deploy and support physical security systems (cameras, badge/access readers, sensors), AV and conference room systems, and office IoT devices such as printers
Partner with Factory Development on-site to align IT deployment with machinery installation and the overall factory buildout
Bring sites online: validate connectivity, wireless coverage, and core services to production-ready
Provide hands-on support during go-live, then hand off cleanly to the local or central IT team
Vendor Coordination & On-Site Project Management
Coordinate and project manage electrical and low-voltage vendors on-site: schedule work, track progress against the IT scope, and keep installs on timeline
Confirm cabling, fiber, pathways, and power are built to spec, and hold vendors accountable to Hadrian standards
Serve as the on-site IT point of contact for Factory Development, construction, and facilities, providing regular status updates
Manage local vendor relationships and escalate issues that put the schedule or scope at risk
Logistics & Asset Management
Receive, stage, and deploy infrastructure and endpoint hardware
Manage shipping and receiving of IT materials across sites
Maintain accurate asset inventory for deployed equipment and consumables
Security & Compliance
Enforce Hadrian’s security tooling on deployed devices: EDR, MDM, and IAM
Support CMMC Level 2 and CUI handling requirements at applicable sites
Coordinate with central IT and InfoSec on compliance during buildouts
What We’re Looking For
Willingness and ability to travel extensively to new builds and existing factories
Hands-on infrastructure deployment experience: racking, cabling, switches, WAPs, firewalls
Experience coordinating or project managing electrical, low-voltage, or structured cabling vendors on-site
Experience deploying and supporting physical security systems (cameras, badge readers, sensors), AV/conference room systems, and office IoT devices such as printers
Comfortable collaborating cross-functionally with construction, facilities, and engineering teams on the ground
Endpoint deployment and management experience (Intune, Mosyle, or FleetDM)
Networking fundamentals: LAN/WAN, VLANs, Wi-Fi, firewall basics
Familiarity with Okta for identity and access management
Strong documentation habits and comfort building runbooks, diagrams, and as-built records
High degree of independence, ownership, and initiative
Manufacturing or industrial environment experience strongly preferred
Comfortable operating as a mobile extension of a distributed team
What Will Set You Apart
Experience designing and standing up greenfield sites or data centers from scratch
Experience with the construction process and reading drawings and working with architects, designers, and general contractors
Structured cabling and low-voltage coordination experience
Experience deploying IT for manufacturing or production lines (OT, shop-floor devices), including coordinating with machinery and equipment teams
Hands-on experience with physical access control, video surveillance (VMS), and building sensor platforms
CMMC, ITAR, and CUI handling experience
Ability to stay professional, detailed oriented and self-directed on customer and partner sites
Benefits for Full-time Employees
Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans for employees
401kRelocation support may be provided for certain situations, based on business need.
Flexible vacation policy
