About this TC Freight Analyst role at Trafigura
Main purpose
Manage the financial and operational side of Trafigura's time chartered and owned fleet, bridging commercial operations and finance. Reconcile high-value hire and invoices, resolve disputes and report on voyage performance to protect shipping profitability.
Key responsibilities
- Review, process and reconcile invoices for Time Charter and Owned Fleet vessels.
- Review and negotiate off-hire and underperformance disputes under Time Charter Parties, in collaboration with the Operations Department.
- Monitor and manage payables and receivables in line with charter party agreements.
- Complete final hire reconciliation statements and manage TC relet-out invoicing.
- Process internal recharges and invoices for accounting purposes.
- Prepare voyage results reports and analyse deviations from Time Charter Equivalent (TCE) and profit and loss (P&L) estimates.
- Report financial performance and outstanding issues to management.
- Maintain accurate records: update systems, file emails and comply with document retention policies.
Required qualifications
- Working knowledge of shipping terminology and maritime commercial practices
- Working knowledge of charter party terms and conditions for time or spot charters
- Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Shipping, Economics, or a related subject
- Fluent English (C2), written and spoken
Preferred qualifications
- Previous experience in shipping operations, freight accounting, or maritime finance
- Previous experience working with chartering or operations teams
- Hands-on experience with IMOS or equivalent freight management software
- Additional experience in tanker operations fundamentals

Department overview
Based in Athens, the team reports to the TC Freight Analysts Manager. It manages vessel-related payments, hire reconciliations and voyage results across Chartering, Operations, Deals Desk / Risk Analysis, Claims and Accounting.
