The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Product Taxonomist at 3M, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Responsible for the design and management of 3M’s product taxonomy (Global Product Hierarchy). This includes the structure itself, the attribution schema, and associated metadata.
- Helping to manage and deliver on key schema definition projects, prioritized by 3M business stakeholders.
- Supporting related taxonomies and hierarchies.
- Engaging with 3M’s divisional marketers and application engineers for strategic input and requirements gathering.
- Implementing changes to internal processes on behalf of the team and supporting governance policies & principles.
- Determining/identifying opportunities for optimization within the organization as well as process improvements for the business users as it relates to data management.
- Willingness to assist different teams across the business that may be looking for guidance or project support related to the GPH or related hierarchies.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:
- Bachelor level university/college degree in Library Science, Marketing, Business Information Systems, or similar.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a private, public, government or military environment required.
- Experience working within PIM, MDM, CMS, and/or DAM systems.
Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:
- Experience with Hybris backoffice and/or Informatica P360
- Proven experience putting insights into action
- Progressive thinker who leverages technology to acceleration content operation activities
- Ability to effectively communicate with multiple stakeholders, including with senior management when expertise is required
- Proven history of continuous education of best practices and skills related to this role
- Possess an in-depth knowledge of 3M structure and organization, including a cross-functional understanding of the business
- An ability to effectively educate others and a passion for solving complex business problems
Travel: May include up to 5% domestic/international
