ABOUT THE TEAM

Anduril’s Space Manufacturing team is seeking a System Integration and Test Engineer to join our team. The Space Manufacturing team is responsible for assembly, integration, and test of ground support equipment, PCBA, unit-level, and integrated systems that are vital for our aerospace and defense operations. Your expertise will help ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality and reliability at Anduril. The right person for this role can demonstrate past holistic ownership in solving a technical challenge with a creative, physical solution that they either personally manufactured or oversaw the manufacturing of, in a fast-paced, resource-limited environment. If you are someone who thrives in such an environment, then this role is for you.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Lead and participate in system integration and test campaigns, developing test plans, test procedures, and schedules, coordinating resource needs, test equipment, and test facility needs.
  • Lead test readiness reviews (TRRs) for flight hardware.
  • Participate in manufacturing readiness reviews (MRRs) for flight hardware.
  • Develop, document, and continuously improve processes for the manufacturing, assembly, and integration of PCBAs and box-level assemblies, and space vehicles, ensuring compliance with space-grade standards.
  • Perform hands-on hardware and software testing at unit-level and system level.
  • Perform detailed root cause analyses (RCA) and drive corrective actions for non-conformances/anomalies identified during integration and test.
  • Specify, procure, and maintain assembly tools, fixtures, and equipment required for integration and test.
  • Communicate with supply chain, hardware teams, program management, and test teams to manage priorities and resolve technical challenges.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in aerospace, aviation, military, or other high-reliability industries, including 2+ years in hands-on integration and test of flight or comparably high-reliability hardware.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or another technical discipline.
  • A working, cross-disciplinary understanding of both mechanical and electrical engineering — comfortable interpreting mechanical drawings and GD&T as well as electrical schematics, troubleshooting across both mechanical hardware and electrical/electronic systems, and interfacing with design engineers to address DFM/DFA challenges.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in unit-level, space-vehicle, or system integration, assembly, and environmental testing, with direct involvement in at least 2 of: vibration, thermal vacuum, acoustic, shock, or EMI/EMC.
  • Hands-on integration or test experience with electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) or comparable sensor and payload systems — at least 1 such area, and preferably more than one (e.g., EO/IR, RF/communications, or optical instruments).
  • 3+ years of practical, hands-on experience using test equipment such as oscilloscopes, network analyzers, power supplies, electronic loads, and DAQs.
  • 2+ years working with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), and/or Material Resource Planning (MRP), including hands-on use of at least 1 as a system of record in production.
  • 2+ years applying manufacturing process controls, quality assurance, and continuous-improvement methodologies.
  • Willing to work on-site full-time in Costa Mesa, CA  in cleanrooms and around sensitive flight hardware, with travel up to 15% to test and supplier sites.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a track record of working across 3+ cross-functional teams (e.g., supply chain, hardware/design, program management, and test), and proven attention to detail in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Support of at least 1 full spacecraft integration-and-test campaign, including subsystem-level tests (e.g., power, RF communication, software simulations, optical instruments) and full system-level tests.
  • 2+ years working on satellite systems, spacecraft, launch vehicles, or related technologies.
  • Proficiency with CAD or 3D-modeling software for tooling design.
  • Experience working in an ISO 7 or cleaner cleanroom, or other contamination-controlled environment.
  • Experience assembling electro-optical instruments.
  • Familiarity with tools such as JIRA, NX design, and Python.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Top Secret security clearance.
