Job Description:

We are looking to strengthen our service team at EUMETSAT with a qualified engineer to fulfil the following tasks and support instrument and data processing chains.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide service for the consolidation of the development logic for the instrument chains, including processing specifications and compilation of the associated schedule.

  • Provide service for the definition and review of the instrument data processing specifications (e.g. algorithms, auxiliary and product formats).

  • Provide service for the development and review of the instrument data processing systems, test tools and test data.

  • Provide service for the verification of products.

  • Provide service for the reviews of instrument data processors design against appropriate versions of requirements and specifications.

  • Provide service for the verification, integration and acceptance of the instrument data processing elements.

  • Provide support for the maintenance of the product dissemination baseline.

  • Provide service for the reviews and technical meetings at system, satellite, instrument, and ground segment level when relevant for instrument data processing elements.

  • Provide service for the interactions with space segment teams and analysis of instrument-related documentation as far as relevant for data processing.

  • Provide service for the interactions with the science, instrument and ground segment team at EUMETSAT, and also, as relevant for the work, with engineers at partner agencies.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • A university degree in Aerospace Engineering, Remote Sensing, Physics, Computer Science, or another relevant technical discipline.

  • Proven experience in the system engineering of satellite-based Earth observation systems, focusing on satellite payloads and ground segment systems.

  • Direct involvement in the development, verification, integration, and testing of instrument data processing chains, algorithms, and product formats.

  • Solid understanding of end-to-end data flows, space-to-ground interfaces, and development logic for instrument chains.

  • Excellent English communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across multidisciplinary teams and international partner agencies.
