How will you make an impact?

As a Mechanical Equipment Engineer, you will join the Operations Engineering team in Eindhoven and take dedicated engineering ownership for the development and implementation of a new advanced cleaning facility. This major capital program will introduce advanced cleaning systems, solvent cleaning equipment, vacuum ovens, water treatment systems, automation, cleanroom integration, new cleaning tools and fixtures, and the supporting utilities needed to enable future manufacturing growth.

You will own mechanical equipment engineering activities across the project lifecycle, from requirements definition and concept development through supplier selection, detailed design, installation, commissioning, qualification and start-up. Working multi-functionally with Facilities, Manufacturing, Quality, EHS and Operations, you will help deliver robust, maintainable and scalable equipment that improves product cleanliness performance, reduces operational risk and supports future process improvements.

What will you do?

• Develop detailed User Requirement Specifications (URS), technical specifications and acceptance criteria for cleaning equipment, tooling, fixtures and supporting systems.

• Define production and logistics equipment concepts, mechanical system architectures and equipment interfaces, including integration with cleanroom infrastructure and facility utilities.

• Support supplier selection through technical evaluations, design reviews, vendor documentation reviews and alignment of technical deliverables.

• Coordinate equipment integration with Facilities, Manufacturing, Quality, EHS, Operations and external suppliers to ensure safe and effective implementation.

• Manage mechanical design changes, engineering documentation and technical risk assessments throughout design, installation and start-up.

• Plan and support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, qualification and production start-up activities.

• Ensure maintainability, reliability and lifecycle supportability by defining maintenance concepts, critical spare parts, service requirements and technical ownership.

• Drive standardization, modularity and future scalability of cleaning processes, equipment, tooling and supporting systems.

• Support implementation of advanced cleanliness technologies and continuous improvement of cleaning processes and equipment performance after start-up.

How will you get there?

• A degree in a technical field such as Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline, or a combination of engineering education and meaningful work experience that demonstrates the required skills.

• Minimum 2-5 years of experience in a similar mechanical or equipment engineering role, preferably in high-tech manufacturing, machine building, cleanroom production or capital equipment projects.

• Experience specifying, designing, installing or supporting production equipment and mechanical systems across the equipment lifecycle, from requirements through commissioning and operational support.

• Experience working with equipment suppliers and performing technical reviews, FAT/SAT activities, commissioning or qualification is strongly preferred.

• Knowledge of mechanical equipment and supporting technologies such as vacuum, pneumatics, fluid systems, thermal equipment, water treatment, solvent handling, automation interfaces or contamination-control processes is an advantage.

• Understanding of equipment safety, risk assessment, environmental requirements and quality requirements in an industrial manufacturing environment.

• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate process and user needs into practical, reliable and maintainable equipment solutions.

• Exceptional organizational and time management abilities, with a strong focus on attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple technical interfaces.

• Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written. Proficient Dutch is preferred due to communication with regional suppliers and manufacturers.

• Excellent interpersonal skills, a hands-on mentality and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic, multi-disciplinary manufacturing environment.

Of course, we all know a list of job requirements is like a wish list. You list the highest priorities on top, but you know you can be surprised with items you didn’t think of yourself. The same goes for this position. Are you certain you are the ideal candidate, but you do not match every part of the requirements? We are excited to get to know you and to discuss a possible fit.

Our offer

• Direct contract with Thermo Fisher Scientific with a competitive salary, 13th month, holiday allowance and annual incentive bonus

• A flexible working hours arrangement

• Excellent career progression opportunities within a growing global employer

• Training and courses available via our Thermo Fisher University to continuously develop yourself

• Collaborative work in an international environment

• Strong Team Spirit and many company and team activities

• Very attractive 40 holidays a year

• This is a full-time position (40 hours). Working part-time is an option in case you’re available for at least 32 hours.

We encourage candidates that enjoy working in a diverse, multi-disciplinary, groundbreaking technology environment where personal development and team collaboration are key to success, to transform impossible into possible for our customers. Diversity in our organization is an important element to build an effective and challenging working environment. Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement are key values that we expect of all that belong to our community. Please apply with CV and cover letter
