The Gordon Center for Research in Medical Education is currently seeking a full time Supervisor of Simulation Technologist to work in Miami.

CORE JOB SUMMARY
The Supervisor, Simulation Technologist provides advanced technical, operational, and supervisory oversight for simulation‑based education and training programs at the University of Miami Gordon Center for Simulation and Innovation in Medical Education. This role leads the team responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and enhancement of medical simulation and audiovisual systems to support effective learner instruction, skills assessment, and quality improvement initiatives across on‑site and remote programs. The incumbent supervises simulation technologists, mentors staff in technical and instructional best practices and collaborates closely with faculty and instructional design teams on scenario development, system optimization, and curriculum implementation. In alignment with the Gordon Center’s mission, the Supervisor ensures the reliability, integration, and continuous improvement of simulation technologies and digital learning tools that support the training of diverse healthcare professionals across the continuum of care.


CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Supervises simulation technologists by orienting, training, evaluating performance, and monitoring technical competency and on‑the‑job effectiveness

  • Provides technical leadership and mentorship to simulation technologists, standardized patients, and instructional support staff to promote quality, safety, and innovation

  • Oversees daily simulation operations, including the setup, calibration, and operation of high‑fidelity simulators, task trainers, and audiovisual systems

  • Ensures readiness, reliability, security, and proper functionality of all simulation environments and technologies

  • Manages audiovisual systems for recording, streaming, and debriefing, including system integration, calibration, and coordination with IT and network partners

  • Executes advanced technical aspects of simulation‑based education, including scenario programming, real‑time troubleshooting, recording, and debriefing support

  • Restores simulation and training environments to pre‑scenario conditions following educational activities

  • Collaborates with faculty and instructional teams to design, test, and refine simulation‑based curricula aligned with learning objectives and accreditation standards

  • Provides guidance to faculty and staff regarding simulator capabilities, instructional technologies, and appropriate simulation resources

  • Serves as the primary liaison with simulation vendors, overseeing software updates, system enhancements, and new technology implementation

  • Maintains accurate inventory, usage logs, technical documentation, and preventive maintenance records in compliance with institutional standards

  • Supports off‑site and mobile simulation activities by coordinating logistics, equipment transport, and technical setup

  • Contributes to quality improvement initiatives by identifying workflow enhancements, recommending technology upgrades, and implementing best practices

  • Assists leadership with budget planning, procurement, policy development, safety protocols, and professional development initiatives

  • Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School diploma required

  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience

  • Advanced technical proficiency with simulation software and hardware systems.

  • Strong understanding of A/V recording, network configurations, and video management systems.

  • Ability to analyze complex problems, develop solutions, and execute under time-sensitive conditions.

  • Skill in mentoring and training others in technical systems and simulation operations.

  • Strong organizational and project-management skills; ability to handle multiple priorities.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.

  • Commitment to the University’s mission, values, and diversity initiatives.

  • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.

  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and travel for offsite courses, special programs and events.

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office, database systems, and learning management platforms.
