Job Description

Nevada State University invites applications for the position of Student Worker - Speech-Language Pathology Program. The student worker will support the Speech-Language Pathology Program located in the Christenson Education Building (CEB). Responsibilities include assisting program faculty, participating in student recruitment events, providing clerical support to the Department Chair for accreditation and program-related needs, and completing other assigned tasks as needed. Some duties may take place at the RiteCare Clinic on Tuesdays or Thursdays. The Department Chair supervises this position.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Working with clinical faculty in preparing client materials, greeting clients in the waiting room, and answering waiting room phones.  
  • Maintaining clinical equipment in working order and organized. 
  • Uploading confidential client paperwork using software.  
  • Working with faculty in course and research support, including but not limited to materials organization, collection and interpretation of data, and reference searches.  
  • Management of materials/equipment checkout system.  
  • Assisting the Department Chair in accreditation and program activities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be in good academic standing and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher (undergraduate) or 3.0 or higher (graduate).
  • Must be enrolled as a degree seeking student with a minimum of 6 credits (undergraduate) or 5 credits (graduate) in the current or upcoming semester at Nevada State.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship (Nevada State does not sponsor employment-related visas). 
  • Strong communication skills in written and spoken English.
  • Knowledge and competency in MSExcel, MSWord. 
  • Attention to detail.
  • Be able to work in an environment of client confidentiality and respect.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Be studying in the field of speech-language pathology, special education, education, health sciences, psychology, biology, or nursing.
  • Bilingual skills—English/Spanish; English/Tagalog.

Work Hours:

This position will work 10-19.5 hours per week. Student employees can work up to 19.5 hours per week.

Hourly Rate:

$14.00 per hour.
