POSITION SUMMARY

The Student Support Officer provides frontline support to students, visitors, and the wider University community by delivering a welcoming, approachable, and student-centred experience. As a first point of contact, the role supports effective navigation of campus services, systems, and resources, contributing to a positive and connected student experience.
Working within established procedures and as part of a collaborative team, the position supports the day-to-day operations of Student Connect through responsive service delivery, operational support, and promotion of self-service resources. The role also contributes to maintaining a professional, organised, and inclusive service environment.

Key Accountabilities Summary

  •  Perform Tier-1 customer service within the Student Connect service model, serving as the first point of contact for students and their families through approved service channels.

  • Verify customers’ information and deliver university documentation to customers e.g., ID card, medical insurance, transcripts, etc.

  • Instruct students to use the self-service Student Connect Online Portal and other RMIT student systems, e.g., enrolments, timetable and learning management systems.

  • Follow the Student Connect process to classify enquiries and make necessary referrals to the Student Advisors or other services.

  • Manage customer data entry and document filings accurately and securely following the University compliance policy, processes and guidelines.

  • Attend mandatory induction sessions, knowledge health check and skill training required for the role.

  • Actively participate in regular team meetings and contribute ideas to enhance Student Connect service.

  • Support the delivery of student engagement activities.

  • Maintain confidentiality in line with RMIT’s Code of Conduct.

  • Other tasks as assigned by the line manager.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Is currently enrolled in an RMIT award program (Higher Education)

  • Proficient English communication skills and ability to facilitate service 100% in English.

  • Demonstrated a strong commitment to delivering excellent student services and support, including effective
    communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

  • Ability to work flexibly and efficiently as a member of a team in a high-volume customer focused environment.

  • Strong organisational and time management skills.

  • Ability to display appropriate behaviours in line with the position, as per the RMIT Behavioural Capability Framework & RMIT Values

Additional information:

  • Open roles: 2 in Hanoi campus & 5 in Saigon South campus

  • Start date: 1 October 2026

  • Competitive hourly rate

  • Contract duration: 6 months

  • Workload: up to 30 hours per week

Compliance Requirements

All academic appointments at RMIT Vietnam must meet University and local regulatory requirements, including English proficiency, background checks, and (for international candidates) eligibility for a work permit.

English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS (General) with a score of at least 5.5 (or equivalent, as outlined in the Recruitment, Selection and Onboarding Guidelines).
