About this Student for Integration MDE engineering role at KLA
To make electronics, you need chips, wafers, transistors, reticles, and... To make these, you must see, test and manufacture them at scale—faster and better than ever before. That's where KLA comes in. Whether you're early in your career or an experienced professional, you'll solve complex challenges, work alongside brilliant minds and help shape the future of technology.
Group/Division
KLA has manufacturing sites worldwide. The Global Operations (GOPS) team, comprised of Manufacturing, Supply Chain Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Installation and Quality, builds our leading-edge technology. GOPS partners with KLA's global supply base and design engineering teams to develop new products, working continuously to build better, faster and more cost-efficient solutions. What You'll Do
In this role, you will play a key part in advancing business priorities by delivering high-impact work across your area of expertise.
The NPI Integration Student Engineer supports development, zero-series production, and manufacturing readiness activities by helping integrate mechanical, motion-control, electronics, optics/scanner, and software subsystems into complete working products.
The position provides hands-on exposure to system-level integration, validation, troubleshooting, and manufacturing support while working alongside experienced engineers. The role offers a unique opportunity to learn how complex multidisciplinary systems achieve performance targets, stability, quality, and production readiness.
The role includes:
- Supporting integration and validation of multidisciplinary systems including mechanics, motion-control, optics/scanners, electronics, and software.
- Assisting with system bring-up, integration, testing, and performance validation during prototype, zero-series, and NPI phases.
- Supporting root-cause investigations of system-level integration, electrical, and motion-control issues observed during development and production.
- Helping design, build, and maintain validation setups, test benches, jigs, and troubleshooting tools.
- Collecting, organizing, and analyzing engineering data to support performance improvement and quality initiatives.
- Supporting preparation of integration documentation, Mfg flows (eQuality system), procedures, engineering files, and manufacturing instructions.
- Assisting with engineering changes, BOM reviews, cabling documentation, and production readiness activities.
- Working closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, suppliers, and external partners on technical assignments.
- Supporting design reviews, validation activities, and product transfer toward high-volume manufacturing.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s student in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, Control Engineering, Robotics, Embedded Systems, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Electrical qualifications, vocational electrical training, or electrical authorizations (e.g., EuP, EFKffT, EFK, or equivalent) are considered a strong advantage.
- Interest in system integration, servo/motion systems, electronics, automation, testing, or manufacturing engineering.
- Basic understanding of electrical circuits, sensors, motors, drives, feedback systems, or control theory.
- Hands-on mindset with strong curiosity and willingness to learn.
- Experience gained through university labs, Formula Student, robotics clubs, personal projects, internships, or technical hobbies is highly valued.
- Basic knowledge of data analysis tools such as Excel, Python, MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, or similar tools is an advantage.
- Understanding of BOM structures, engineering documentation, or configuration management is an advantage.
- Exposure to motion-control systems and 3D CAD tools (Creo, SolidWorks, or similar) is an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving skills, teamwork, and communication abilities.
