Structural Steel Field Surveyor

Starting Pay: $30.00/hour — higher depending on experience
Position Overview
We are hiring a Structural Steel Field Surveyor to provide layout, alignment, and survey support for structural steel projects throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. This is a field-based position requiring regular travel to active construction sites and comfort working around structural steel installations.
Responsibilities
Collect accurate field measurements using surveying equipment.
Establish building control lines, column locations, and anchor rod positions.
Check elevations and embed alignment and prepare as-built drawings.
Support steel erection by verifying alignment and placement.
Coordinate with other trades to maintain proper plumbness and structural accuracy.
Assist with installation of structural and miscellaneous steel, including stairs and shafts.
Use Trimble, Bluebeam, CAD, and Microsoft Office for field and documentation tasks.
Follow and promote safe work practices on all job sites.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in structural steel erection or field surveying.
Experience surveying slopes, grades, and layouts for structural and miscellaneous metals.
Proficiency with a total station or similar surveying equipment.
Working knowledge of AISC standards for building alignment and orientation.
Ability to travel regularly to job sites throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Comfortable working at heights, including aerial lifts and elevated steel floors.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to accurate measurements.
Good communication skills and ability to work effectively with onsite teams.

Primarily field-based, with occasional time at office or shop locations for training and meetings.
