CNC Steel Fabrication Operator
Location: Ashland, VA
Shift: 1st Shift
Starting Pay: $20.00/hour — higher depending on experience
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled CNC Steel Fabrication Operator with structural steel experience. This role involves operating CNC machinery, interpreting technical drawings, performing machining and assembly work, and checking finished components for accuracy.
Responsibilities
Set up and operate CNC equipment, including combination mill/lathe and drill line machines used for structural steel fabrication.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders.
Use hand and power tools for machining and assembly tasks.
Adjust machine settings to maintain proper performance and accuracy.
Inspect completed components to verify they meet design and structural specifications.
Troubleshoot equipment issues and perform basic machine maintenance.
Enter production information and maintain documentation in Global Shop (ERP system).
Work with team members to maintain a safe and efficient production environment.
Qualifications
Previous experience in structural steel fabrication required.
Experience operating CNC equipment, specifically combination mill/lathe and drill line machines.
Ability to accurately read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Proficiency with hand and power tools.
Strong computer skills; experience with Global Shop or similar ERP systems preferred.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and remain on your feet for extended periods.
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
