Position Summary:
ANSER is seeking a Strategic Operational Planner (Journeyman). In this role, you will support INDOPACOM headquarters or a component staff in the development, revision, and review of Operational Plans (OPLANS), Contingency Plans (CONPLANS), and Campaign Plans. You will assist senior planners by contributing research, analysis, and planning inputs that enable effective operational design and execution.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
- Assist staff planners in developing strategic and operational concepts for new OPLANs/CONPLANs and branch plans.
- Conduct research, gather data, and prepare planning inputs to support senior planners during plan development and updates.
- Help coordinate with higher, adjacent, and supporting headquarters to ensure planning alignment and proper employment of forces.
- Review assigned portions of OPLANS/CONPLANS and provide draft comments or recommendations for senior planner review.
- Maintain awareness of theater‑relevant issues and assist in preparing planning products, briefings, and reports.
Required Qualifications:
- Active TS/SCI clearance.
- Bachelor’s degree.
- 5+ years of operational planning experience at a service component, Major Command (MAJCOM), Combatant Command (COCOM), or equivalent.
- 8 years minimum total professional experience.
- Demonstrated general knowledge of operational planning processes and familiarity with service and joint doctrine.
- Basic understanding of C2IE, JOPES, or similar planning and force‑management tools.
- Proficiency with Microsoft applications such as Excel, Teams, Word, and PowerPoint.
- General knowledge of the Pacific theater and an understanding of the regional environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate effectively with military and civilian staff.
- Solid written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear planning products and staff notes.
- Experience supporting plan development or staff planning in a joint environment.
