About Gridware
Gridware is a San Francisco-based technology company dedicated to protecting and enhancing the electrical grid. We pioneered a groundbreaking new class of grid management called active grid response (AGR), focused on monitoring the electrical, physical, and environmental aspects of the grid that affect reliability and safety. Gridware’s advanced Active Grid Response platform uses high-precision sensors to detect potential issues early, enabling proactive maintenance and fault mitigation. This comprehensive approach helps improve safety, reduce outages, and ensure the grid operates efficiently. The company is backed by climate-tech and Silicon Valley investors. As a member of the Strategic Finance team, you'll sit at the intersection of finance, operations, and strategy — partnering closely with the CFO and cross-functional leaders (Sales, Ops, Product) to drive planning, forecasting, and key business decisions. This is a highly visible, high-impact role for someone who wants to build financial infrastructure from the ground up at a fast-growing startup, not just maintain what already exists.
You'll move fluidly between deep analytical work and strategic conversations with leadership, and you'll need to be comfortable with ambiguity
Responsibilities
Own and continuously evolve the company’s long-range financial plan, integrating revenue, operating, and investment assumptions and developing scenario and sensitivity analyses to inform strategic priorities and capital allocation
Partner with the CFO on fundraising prep — investor materials, board decks, data rooms, and diligence support
Analyze unit economics to inform go-to-market and investment decisions
Support ad hoc strategic projects — new market entry, headcount planning, capital allocation, M&A evaluation
Help build scalable finance processes and systems as the company grows
Translate complex financial analysis into clear, actionable recommendations for non-finance stakeholders
Required Skills
3–6 years of experience in investment banking, private equity, venture capital, consulting, or strategic finance/FP&A
Advanced Excel/financial modeling skills; comfort building models from scratch
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Excellent communication skills — able to distill complex analysis into a clear narrative for executives and the board
A bias toward action and comfort operating with ambiguity in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment
Experience with fundraising, board reporting, or investor relations is a plus
Strong understanding of core accounting concepts and financial statements, including how business activity flows through the income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow statement
Familiarity with SaaS/hardware metrics and startup finance (burn, runway, ARR, gross margin) is a plus
