Steel Shipping Lead – Cocoa Beach, FL

Location: Cocoa Beach, FL
Shift: 1st Shift
Job Type: Contract to Hire
Starting Pay: $26.00/hour — higher depending on experience

We are hiring an experienced Steel Shipping Lead to help coordinate material loadout and shipping operations in a structural steel fabrication environment. This position combines hands-on work with team leadership and focuses on safe, accurate, and timely shipments.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead day-to-day steel shipping and loadout activities
  • Make sure materials are properly loaded, secured, and ready for transport
  • Check material markings, load quantities, and shipping paperwork for accuracy
  • Work with production, logistics, and shop teams to keep shipments on schedule
  • Maintain load tickets and shipping records using production/shipping software
  • Train and assist new employees
  • Conduct daily safety meetings and reinforce shop safety procedures
  • Help identify ways to improve shipping and loadout processes
  • Provide hands-on leadership in a busy manufacturing environment

    • What You’ll Need

  • 5+ years of experience in structural steel material handling or shipping
  • 2+ years of lead, supervisory, or team leadership experience
  • Experience operating overhead cranes, telehandlers, vertical mast lifts, and forklifts
  • Familiarity with Tekla EPMgo or similar production/shipping software preferred
  • Strong organization, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong focus on safety and quality
