The Staffing Coordinator manages the scheduling of nursing personnel assigned to inpatient nursing units throughout the hospital. This role maintains the critical link between clients and healthcare professionals through arranging proper schedules. This interactive, collaborative role works alongside staff throughout the nursing units to help ensure smooth operations of clinical patient units.

The Staffing Coordinator ensures units are accurately staffed to achieve the best patient care and ensures schedules are effectively communicated to staff.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Accurately follows all practices and policies related to the Staffing Office (i.e., proactively solicits staff to provide appropriate coverage, follows cancellation hierarchy, assures staff are distributed as needed to meet the needs of the Center, etc.) Refer to Staffing Office Rules and Practices Manual.
  • Updating Kronos and issuing standard reports per established timelines so as to ensure proper payment for employees.
  • Upholding federal, state, and local standards in scheduling.
  • Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with the Unit Managers, Charge Nurses and all other nursing staff.
  • Practices proper safety techniques in accordance with Center and departmental policies and procedures. Responsible for the reporting of employee/patient/visitor injuries or accidents, or other safety issues to the supervisor and in the occurrence notification system.  
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with all regulatory requirements, organizational standards, and policies and procedures related to area of responsibility. Identifies potential risk areas within area of responsibility and supports problem resolution process.

Physical Demands:
