The Senior Staff Platform Operations Engineer is responsible for owning the day-to-day operational health, reliability, and continuous improvement of Danaher’s Enterprise Data Platform — including Snowflake, Azure, Matillion, dbt, and Airflow — ensuring data pipelines, warehouses, and downstream consumers (analytics, AI, and reporting) run securely, predictably, and at enterprise scale. This role drives incident response, automation, cost and performance optimization, and operational governance across the L1/L2 support model, directly enabling Danaher’s OpCos and enterprise functions to make data-driven decisions.
This position reports to the Director – Data Platform and Operations and is part of the Enterprise Data Engineering team and will work from the Bangalore IDC office.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Own end-to-end operations and support of the Enterprise Data Platform (Snowflake, Azure, AWS, Matillion, dbt, and Airflow), including monitoring, alerting, incident response, SLA management, L1/L2 support execution, runbook management, task/pipeline triage, MTTR reduction, and escalation to L3 Solutions as required.
- Drive operational excellence through automation, observability, and self-healing capabilities, including runbooks-as-code, automated remediation, observability dashboards, GenAI-assisted triage, and continuous improvement initiatives that reduce manual effort and improve platform reliability.
- Manage platform governance, security, performance, and economics, including access management, provisioning, compliance controls, cost optimization, capacity planning, performance tuning, and operational governance across the data platform ecosystem.
- Partner with Data Engineering, AI Solutions, Architecture, and Security teams to translate operational insights into platform enhancements, scalability plans, risk mitigation strategies, and audit-ready evidence supporting SOX, SOC, and internal audit requirements.
- Lead and develop a team of Data Operations Engineers and vendor partners, establishing standardized operating procedures, runbooks, on-call rotations, incident management practices, post-incident reviews, and a culture of accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- 8+ years of progressive experience in data platform operations, data engineering, or DevOps/SRE roles, with at least 3 years operating a cloud-native enterprise data platform (Snowflake or equivalent) in a regulated environment.
- Hands-on expertise across the modern data cloud stack – Snowflake, Fabric, Databricks
- Demonstrated experience leading L1/L2 platform operations, including incident management (ServiceNow or equivalent), on-call ownership, SLA reporting, runbook authorship, and automation of operational tasks (Python/SQL/Terraform/Pulumi).
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and occasionally internationally for team meetings, vendor reviews, and OpCo engagements.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Operating compliance-regulated data platforms under SOX, SOC 1/2, or GxP, including audit evidence collection.
Implementing Gen AI / agentic automation for L1 triage, self-healing pipelines, or AIOps.
Working in a multi-OpCo / multi-tenant enterprise environment (e.g., Danaher, large pharma/life sciences, or diversified industrials) with cross-functional partnership across IT, Data Strategy, and Business teams.
