About this Staff Order Engineer, FCD Isolation Valves role at Flowserve
Role Summary:
This role is part of the global Order Engineering team responsible for preparing job related customer and manufacturing drawings and documents, generating and managing item masters and Engineering Bills of Material (eBOM) to support customer orders. This position will coordinate closely with the Engineering Business unit teams of FCD (Flow Control Division) to prioritize the work with the business objectives and strategic initiatives of the operations.
Responsibilities & Requirements:
- Take ownership of engineering activities. Create/review designs, drawings, technical documentation (using CAD/tools) and generate BOMs (Bill of materials) for engineering products.
- Review, understand and summarize customer specifications, aid customers (internal and external) by providing technical solutions support.
- Collaborate/coordinate closely with cross‑functional teams (such as, GTEC, project teams, GES, BU commercial/sales) to improve the Customer Satisfaction.
- Adapt/modify existing designs and BOMs to meet order‑specific customer needs (i.e., customization of standard designs).
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, identify opportunities, draw valid conclusions and manage medium complexity projects/tasks.
- Deliver clear and complete drawings/analysis reports/documentation/part list/engineering solutions, as per the deliverables of the assignment, ensuring On-time delivery and quality. Timely update the customer/business unit on schedule and effort variances, if any.
- When called upon for subject matter expertise, partner with Operations, Sales, Quality Assurance, and other stakeholders as necessary to provide customer centric and highly responsive support to resolve product performance issues in the field.
Preferred Experience / Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with 2 to 3 years of Valve or related industry design experience.
- Strong analytical, problem solving with a demonstrated ability to apply technology to creatively solve problems and meet business needs.
- Proficient in CAD design and drafting in any of the 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
- SAP and Windchill knowledge is preferred.
- Good knowledge of MS Office and SAP.
- Knowledge of ASME / API/ DIN design standards and material specifications.
- Understanding of engineering documentation, drafting, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
- Demonstrated ability to work with geographically dispersed teams with culturally diverse membership.
- Experience in pressure equipment design is an advantage.
- Experience in the nuclear industry (valves) is an advantage.
- Flexible concerning working hours & willingness to travel for planned visits or to overcome unexpected issues (up to 20%) if any.
- Ability to work without close supervision and accomplish assignments of high quality and on time.
- Strong oral and written English communication skills, German is a plus.
