Job Description:

Join our team as a computational immunologist (in single-cell analysis) and contribute to global healthcare and scientific innovation. As part of the AI Excellence team, you will apply advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI techniques to solve complex business challenges across our enterprise. In our collaborative environment, you will develop and deploy sophisticated AI solutions that are a fundamental part of novel products, drive operational efficiencies, and enhance decision-making capabilities. This role offers the opportunity to work with advanced technologies while contributing to our mission of enabling customers to make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer.

Main Responsibilities:

• Establish the methods and solutions to analyse large amounts of single-cell VDJ sequencing data, specifically directed towards the development and evolution of antibodies.

• Design the next generation of computational analysis pipelines for high-throughput processing of single-cell VDJ data. Add other sources of paired or unpaired immunoglobin data as needed.

• Conduct original research on affinity maturation and antibody developability.

• Help build and provision our data infrastructure towards antibody development and annotation of VDJ clonotypes, possibly adding other sources than single-cell VDJ sequencing.

• Contribute to annotation of immunoglobin germline variation on different genomes.

• Advice on recombinant antibody production and immunochemical analysis.

• Partner with Thermo Fisher Scientific scientists and external academic research groups to translate research ideas into working prototypes.

• Lead and contribute to open-source projects, benchmarks, and research results used by the broader community.

• Publish and present research at top-tier venues, while deploying your computational tools and algorithmic implementations into production systems.

Qualifications:

• Advanced Degree (PhD) plus 2 years of experience, or Master's Degree plus 5-8 years of experience in Computational Immunology or Computational Biology

• Preferred Fields of Study: Bioinformatics, Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Immunology, Genetics, Biochemistry, or a related quantitative field

• Expertise and proven hands-on work in analysis and processing of single-cell VDJ sequencing data from different technology providers or homebrewed solutions

• A strong background in large-scale data integration and multimodal-omics data for biological systems is preferred.

• Advanced proficiency in Python, SQL, and other coding languages of relevance

• Experience querying knowledge graphs will be advantageous.

• Knowledge of machine learning frameworks, including scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and PyTorch, is preferred.

• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) and big data technologies (Spark, Databricks)

• Proficiency in statistical analysis, experimental design, and hypothesis testing

• Experience with ETL processes and data pipeline development

• Knowledge of DevOps practices and version control systems (Git)

• Prior open-source contributions or research publications

• Strong communication skills for presenting technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. You should be comfortable collaborating across research and engineering teams.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

• Ability to move quickly from ideas to insights using sound experimental strategies

• Domain knowledge in immunology for antibody production will be highly valued.

• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Excellent project management and organizational abilities. You are comfortable working in fast-paced, innovation-driven environments with evolving priorities.

• Willingness to stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends
