At ADI, we combine deep technical expertise with a customer-first mindset to solve our customers’ most complex challenges.

Role Description

The High-Performance Power Applications team is seeking an experienced Staff Applications Engineer to support our DC-DC power product portfolio. This is a hands-on technical role for an engineer who has moved beyond foundational applications support and is ready to independently own complex customer engagements, drive technical solutions with minimal oversight, and begin mentoring more junior engineers on the team.

The successful candidate will work closely with design, product marketing, and systems teams to support customer design-ins and design-wins across industrial, communications, and data center markets, while developing deeper subject-matter expertise within a specific product sub-family.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the key technical point of contact for customer applications questions on DC-DC power products
  • Independently lead product validation, characterization, and evaluation for new and existing power ICs, including bench testing, EMI/noise measurement, and control-loop analysis
  • Develop customer-facing collateral including evaluation boards, design tools, simulation models, application notes, and technical presentations
  • Guide customers through system integration, design optimization, and troubleshooting for both standard and custom power architectures
  • Conduct in-depth product and application training sessions for FAEs, distributors, and customers
  • Partner with design and product marketing teams to translate customer and market requirements into next-generation product definitions
  • Identify recurring technical issues or systemic gaps and drive cross-functional root-cause analysis and resolution
  • Mentor junior applications engineers and review their technical work, lab methodology, and customer communications
  • Contribute to team knowledge base by documenting best practices, common failure modes, and design guidelines

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • 7+ years of hands-on experience in power electronics or power management IC applications engineering
  • Strong working knowledge of DC-DC converter topologies and LDO regulators, including compensation and control-loop design
  • Demonstrated ability to independently debug complex power system issues in the lab, including noise, stability, and thermal performance
  • Proficiency with PCB layout review, circuit simulation tools (e.g., SIMPLIS, LTspice), and standard lab equipment
  • Track record of direct, successful customer engagement and technical ownership of design-in support
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated capability to work independently while collaborating effectively across engineering, marketing, and sales functions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with datacenter, industrial power systems
  • Familiarity with EMI/EMC pre-compliance testing and mitigation techniques
  • Familiarity with PMBus or other digital power management interfaces

What We're Looking For

  • A self-directed engineer who takes ownership of problems through to resolution
  • A strong communicator who can distill complex technical topics for varied audiences
  • A collaborative team member who elevates the technical capability of those around them
  • A customer-first mindset paired with rigorous, data-driven engineering practice
