Job Description Summary

As a Staff Build & Release Engineer – DevOps, you will be responsible for providing build and release strategy and hands on implementation for highly complex as well as parallel and concurrent releases for a Software Product.

You will manage Continuous Code Integration, Deployments and Tests within Software Development Life Cycle, working independently and is seen as a Technical Leader.

The role demonstrates deep understanding of concurrent software development, its effect on build management and releasing the builds across versions and environments.

Responsibilities

  • Owning strategy, designing and implementation for builds, continuous integration, delivery, test and release processes for large and complex releases of a product and at times expands the scope across multiple concurrent releases.

  • Managing and improving release process, focusing on scale and efficiency and deploying the right builds across environments.

  • Managing key deliverables and mentors junior team members.

  • Contributing in driving initiatives such as defining standards and processes to ensure quality.

  • Working cross functionally with other business departments to align activities and deliverables.

  • Developing and enhancing the test infrastructure and continuous integration framework used across teams.

  • Determining best practices and principals and promotes them across the team.

  • Demonstrating expert knowledge in developing and executing automated builds and scripts.

  • Learning new build and releasing techniques and methodologies and trains the team in the same.

  • Working with developers and stakeholders to deliver quality software through the build and deployment system.

  • Partnering with and provides direction to fellow team members to diagnose bugs and formulate solutions.

  • Evangelisting and adopting and use industry best practices to improve Build, Release and Continuous integration and delivery processes.



Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

  • Strong experience in software development with a strong focus on DevOps principles and practices.

  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.

  • Extensive experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Azure DevOps, CircleCI).

  • Strong understanding and experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).

  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).

  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, operating systems (Linux/Windows), and database systems.

  • Experience with configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef).

  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).

  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
