As a Staff Analog Design Engineer at Analog Devices, you will lead the design and development of complex analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits, working with significant latitude to solve challenging technical problems. You'll provide technical leadership on critical projects, contribute to architectural decisions, and mentor less experienced engineers while collaborating with cross-functional teams. This role requires deep technical expertise combined with broader business understanding to drive innovation and ensure successful product delivery across multiple applications and markets.

Qualifications

  • 10 years work experience / degree in electrical engineering or closely related discipline. Masters degree or higher very desirable.
  • Extensive experience in analog or mixed-signal IC design.
  • Proven track record of successful IC tape-outs and silicon validation.
  • Experience delivering designs from concept through layout to production.
  • Experience providing technical leadership or mentoring engineers.
  • Publications or patents in analog/mixed-signal design (preferred).
  • Successful engineering team leadership and/or management experience desirable with strong engineering communication and collaboration skills.
  • Design experience in several of: RF Amplifiers, LNAs, Mixers, VGAs, Data converters, PLL, VCOs, clock generation, Bandgaps, and Op-amps is a must. A successful candidate will have practical experience in bringing blocks or complete paths from design through layout to production.
  • Expert-level ability to design and analyze complex analog circuits with the skill to optimize designs for specific applications.
  • Demonstratable understanding of deep submicron technologies. Understanding of electromigration, aging and technology limitations required. Experience with FinFET design is a plus.
  • Expertise in mixed-signal IC design and integration, including signal integrity, noise mitigation, and power optimization.
  • Fluency with industry tools including Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre, EMX, Spice, Heatwave, etc.
  • Deep understanding of IC layout considerations, including parasitics, matching, and performance optimization, with the ability to guide layout decisions.
  • Understanding of RF microwave concepts including impedance matching, power transfer, isolation, transmission line design, and s-parameters is a plus.
  • Test and debug experience required. Experience with test equipment, strong lab skills and silicon evaluation is very desirable.
  • Strong customer focus and highly motivated to succeed. Candidate must have collaborated across disciplines to ensure products meet customer requirements and timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform feasibility, conceptual and detailed design of mixed-signal Integrated Circuits (ICs) in deep sub-micron CMOS technologies.
  • Design and develop analog and mixed-signal circuits and blocks, ensuring performance across process, voltage and temperature variations.
  • Develop creative solutions to solve demanding problems. Suggest new architectures and novel ways to overcome customer problems.
  • Evaluate customer requirements and decipher information into both chip level and block level specifications, including area, cost and power tradeoffs.
  • Move beyond schematic design to anticipate tradeoffs in physical design and block interaction. Floorplan and guide physical design (layout) engineers to deliver implementations that meet requirements.
  • Work with RF engineers on laminate design including ball-out planning, RF performance, isolation and matching and overall verification.
  • Assist product engineers with silicon validation and debug by conducting measurements and analyzing lab data.
  • Collaborate with product definers, verification engineers, process engineers, test engineers, and application engineers to ensure designs meet performance objectives.
  • Create and present design and evaluation review documentation while working with engineers in geographically disparate locations.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other engineers, including participation in design reviews.
