Job Description Summary

The Outage Productivity ST & GEN AP Leader leads the industrialization and deployment of productivity improvements for OEM legacy AP Steam Turbine and Generator outage services. The role provides senior functional guidance, drives cross-functional alignment, and owns governance across the improvement lifecycle—from opportunity definition and validation through standardization, deployment, and sustainment—to deliver measurable customer and business impact.

Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional outage productivity projects across the full lifecycle, from idea generation and problem definition through pilot, validation, standardization, deployment, handover, and sustainment.
  • Identify, frame, and prioritize opportunities based on field pain points, bottlenecks, waste, customer value, technical feasibility, and business impact.
  • Translate opportunities into structured projects with clear scope, applicability, expected benefits, success criteria, and deployment requirements.
  • Drive improvements for OEM legacy Alstom, GE Fossil and Industrial, and Nuclear Steam Turbine and Generator outage services, including Steam Turbine upgrade installations.
  • Lead Kaizen events, LoRAP workshops, and working sessions to develop practical, field-ready solutions and align stakeholders.
  • Define and execute pilot and PDCA plans, using performance data, field feedback, and lessons learned to validate solutions before broader rollout.
  • Industrialize solutions into standard, repeatable, scalable, and sustainable ways of working by coordinating updates to procedures, outage standards, tooling, planning templates, training, commercial inputs, and operating rhythms.
  • Develop deployment packages covering communication, training, change actions, KPI/PPI definitions, adoption expectations, and handover requirements.
  • Partner with Methods, Fleet Management, Outage Optimization, Training, regional and segment Field Service, planning, commercial, engineering, tooling, and operations teams to ensure deployment readiness and sustainment.
  • Engage field teams and site leaders to gather feedback, improve usability, remove adoption barriers, and strengthen the link between execution teams and functional owners.
  • Coordinate with tooling and engineering teams on development needs, testing plans, and scale-up requirements for new tools or equipment.
  • Serve as project manager and business owner for assigned initiatives, ensuring disciplined execution through stage gates covering approval, validation, standardization, industrialization, deployment readiness, and sustainment.
  • Own project governance, schedules, risks, stakeholder alignment, executive updates, pilot budgets, validation costs, and related CAPEX requests.
  • Define, track, and report progress, validated impact, deployment readiness, adoption, and sustained results, including integration into Daily Management and MOR/KPI systems where applicable.
  • Communicate opportunities, implementation choices, risks, policy or standard-work changes, and business impacts clearly to leaders, functional partners, and field teams.
  • Support the future outage value stream operating model, in which value stream teams transform and enable while segments and regions execute and sustain.
  • Coach and influence cross-functional contributors to strengthen execution discipline, standardization, constructive feedback, and continuous improvement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Travel may be required.

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college in Engineering, Operations, Business, Management, or a related field, or significant equivalent experience.
  • Significant experience in Field Service, outage execution, maintenance, installation, service operations, productivity, or continuous improvement within power generation or a comparable industrial environment.
  • Experience with Steam Turbine and/or Generator outage execution, planning, field operations, methods, tooling, upgrades, or service engineering.
  • Experience leading cross-functional projects or programs from concept through validation, deployment, and handover.
  • Experience applying structured problem solving, Lean, Kaizen, PDCA, or equivalent continuous improvement methods.
  • Demonstrated ability to advise functional and business leaders, influence priorities, and communicate complex implementation changes in a matrix environment.

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong functional expertise in Steam Turbine and Generator outage productivity, with knowledge of legacy Alstom, GE Fossil and Industrial, and Nuclear service environments.
  • Strong understanding of how outage services and Steam Turbine upgrades are planned, prepared, executed, standardized, and sustained in the field.
  • Ability to convert improvement ideas into scalable operating solutions through standardization, industrialization, deployment, and sustainment.
  • Strong project and program management capability, including prioritization, evaluative judgment, risk management, accountability, and execution discipline.
  • Ability to work effectively across procedures, tooling, fleet support, outage optimization, training, planning, engineering, commercial, and Field Service functions.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to define baselines, validate impact, use KPI/TTI/PPI data, and connect results to business operating rhythms.
  • Skilled communicator and facilitator who can influence leaders, functional partners, and field teams and translate complex topics into clear actions.
  • Self-starter with high ownership, sound judgment, persistence, and a bias for action in ambiguous or moderately complex environments.
  • Strong oral and written English communication skills; additional European languages are an advantage.
