Overview

The Senior Specialist, Aftersales cost monitoring is responsible for leading cost planning, monitoring, analysis, and governance activities across Scout Motors' Aftersales organization. This role serves as the primary point of contact for Aftersales financial performance tracking, ensuring cost transparency, budget adherence, and data-driven decision-making across Service Operations, Parts Operations, Warranty, Logistics, and other Aftersales functions at retail level. 

The position will drive the annual Budget Planning (PR’s), yearly budgeting process, rolling forecasts, monthly performance reviews, and cost governance routines while partnering closely with Finance and operational stakeholders. This role will provide actionable insights, identify cost-saving opportunities, validate spending accuracy, support strategic business cases, and develop reporting tools that enable leadership to effectively manage financial performance and operational efficiency in a high-growth launch environment. 

What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Lead the annual planning round and budgeting process and rolling forecast activities for Aftersales cost centers, programs, and operational initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives and financial targets. 
  • Own the monthly Aftersales cost monitoring cycle, delivering timely and accurate variance analysis against budget, forecast, and prior period performance while identifying risks, trends, and opportunities. 
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive cost models, financial tracking tools, and forecasting methodologies that improve visibility into Aftersales spending and support strategic decision-making. 
  • Partner with Service Operations, Parts Operations, Warranty, Logistics, Procurement, and Finance teams to identify cost drivers, evaluate efficiency opportunities, and provide data-driven recommendations to improve financial performance. 
  • Ensure the accuracy of cost allocations, chargebacks, and overhead distributions by validating allocation methodologies, maintaining supporting documentation, and ensuring audit readiness. 
  • Develop, maintain, and continuously improve management dashboards, financial reports, and executive presentations that provide clear visibility into spending performance, key trends, savings initiatives, and business risks. 
  • Lead recurring cost review meetings with stakeholders, documenting action plans, tracking progress, quantifying savings opportunities, and ensuring timely execution and closure of agreed actions. 
  • Support the development of business cases for new projects, operational initiatives, investments, and strategic programs through detailed cost-benefit analysis, sensitivity analysis, scenario planning, and financial modeling. 
  • Coordinate with Finance during month-end and year-end close activities impacting Aftersales, ensuring accruals, reclassifications, reconciliations, and financial adjustments are completed accurately and on time. 
  • Monitor vendor and third-party spending, validate invoices against contractual agreements, statements of work, and service level agreements (SLAs), and investigate spending variances or anomalies. 
  • Analyze spending patterns and operational trends to identify opportunities for cost optimization, process improvements, supplier efficiencies, and resource allocation improvements. 
  • Establish, maintain, and continuously improve cost governance frameworks, policies, controls, and reporting standards to support financial discipline and compliance across Aftersales. 
  • Support leadership in preparing executive reviews, strategic planning activities, and organizational performance assessments by providing accurate financial analysis and recommendations. 
  • Collaborate with Digital and IT teams to improve reporting automation, dashboard functionality, and data integrity across Aftersales financial reporting processes. 
  • Ensure consistency of key financial and operational performance indicators across Aftersales functions and maintain a single source of truth for cost reporting and performance management. 

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role may be based out of the Scout Motors corporate headquarters in Charlotte, NC
  • This role requires 4-5 days per week in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events. 
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field. 
  • Proven experience managing operating budgets, cost monitoring, financial analysis, forecasting, and performance reporting within the automotive industry, preferably supporting OEMs, vehicle brands, dealership networks, retail automotive operations, or aftermarket organizations. 
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in financial analysis, cost controlling, business operations, cost management, or related analytical roles. 
  • Strong experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, cost monitoring, variance analysis, and financial reporting processes. 
  • Advanced proficiency in AI, Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, data analysis, and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar business intelligence platforms. 
  • Experience developing dashboards, management reports, and executive-level presentations. 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to effectively partner across Finance and operational organizations. 
  • Experience supporting startup, launch, transformation, or high-growth business environments preferred.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $130,000.00 - $160,000.00
