The Role

The Role Proofpoint is looking for a highly motivated Sr. Software Engineer to join the Threat Response product engineering team. As part of the Threat Response team, you will help design, build, and operate the cloud platform that powers our services. This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys software development while also taking ownership of cloud architecture, infrastructure scalability, reliability, security, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate has strong software engineering experience combined with practical expertise in cloud platforms and large-scale production environments.

What You’ll Work On

• Designing and operating scalable cloud platforms that support a global multi-tenant SaaS environment

• Building highly available and resilient architectures that support business continuity and disaster recovery objectives

• Designing secure networking solutions across AWS environments, regions, and accounts

• Managing containerized application platforms and deployment pipelines

• Driving operational excellence through observability, monitoring, automation, and reliability engineering practices

• Supporting database operations, upgrades, migrations, and platform scalability initiatives.
  
  

What You Bring to the Team

• Proven experience building enterprise or SaaS applications in Java and/or Python, including large-scale, highly available, secure cloud-native platforms

• Hands-on AWS networking and security experience, including VPCs, CIDR planning, Security Groups, cross-account IAM, secure connectivity between environments, disaster recovery, and regional failover

• Working knowledge of Terraform, including writing and maintaining modules, managing state, and safely executing plan/apply operations in shared environments

• Experience operating Kubernetes-based platforms and modern CI/CD pipelines in production environments

• PostgreSQL or other relational database experience, including upgrades, migrations, performance tuning, backup, recovery, and scalability

• Demonstrated ability to effectively leverage AI-assisted engineering tools for system design, implementation, testing, debugging, and operational support

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills

• BSc degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS services such as EKS, RDS, MSK, Route 53, ELB, CloudWatch, SQS, and SNS

• Experience with CI/CD platforms such as CloudBees and/or Harness, and observability platforms such as Coralogix

• Experience with compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, SOC 2, or ISO 27001.
