Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on full stack developer Sr / Lead Engineer to join our Asset Management – Investment Technology in NYC. This role will play a critical part in modernising and supporting core investment platforms, with a focus on scalable cloud-based architecture, full stack delivery and robust engineering practices.
You will work across investment technology stacks, engage directly with global stakeholders across investment, operations, products and wider technology teams and help drive technology solutions that support portfolio management and trading

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive full stack application development using modern technologies across cloud-native and hybrid architectures·        
  • Design and implement scalable and APIs with strong security, monitoring and logging frameworks·        
  • Develop rich UI components using framework such as React or Angular·        
  • Manage AWS based infrastructure components and CI/CD pipelines (CloudFormation, Lambda, ECS, S3, RDS etc.)·        
  • Own the production environment operations and applications. Be responsible for reviewing and approving all change before it is deployed into your production environment. Collaborate with business and product teams to shape requirements and translate them into technical specifications and delivery plan·        
  • Interface with vendors (e.g., Blackrock Aladdin, Snowflake, etc.) for issue resolution, feature enhancements and to ensure robust system integration·         Continuously seek automation opportunities to improve team efficiency
  • Execute and/or oversee the creation of low level design documents (including code samples/outlines) and detailed engineering specifications based on complex business, user, and non-functional (e.g. performance, reliability, balance, and controls) requirements. Write code that adheres to standards, procedures, and techniques. Maintain integrity of existing program logic according to specifications. Complete deliverables using the Software Development Life-Cycle (SDLC).
  • Partner with the business and project team to gather requirements and fully understand project goals, and then use this information to effectively plan and lead the development process. Participate in project design walk-throughs. Evaluate interrelationships between applications and design for effective interfaces between interrelated applications/systems. Appropriately address failure scenarios in design work. Proactively review then plan and execute corrective action in response to production support issues, as required.
  • Lead the code review process to ensure development work adheres to standards and specifications, which includes peer review, as well as code review external to development team. Write and/or revise system design documentation and operations documentation to include providing required input into operation support manuals and user guides. Create and properly archive all project related documentation.
  • Ensure all code is effectively unit tested prior to being released to the quality assurance team. Resolve all unit test issues in a timely manner. Assist the quality assurance team in identifying test cases and in creating/mining test data to enable a thorough test of all development deliverables. Respond to all inquiries and issues in a timely manner as the developed code/program moves through the testing process and into production. Approve code to be put into production. 
  • Provide oversight, mentorship, and technical leadership to a development team, which consists of employees, contractors, and vendor partner resources, to ensure the timely execution of project deliverables. Provide governance oversight to ensure adherence to development strategy, standards, tools, and procedures. Guide the development teams to consistently apply appropriate development principles and standards during all phases of the development life-cycle.
  • Conduct annual asset health and security assessment. Improve health of system assets by identifying enhancements to improve performance, reliability, and resource consumption. Track standards exceptions (e.g. security gaps) to ensure they are addressed in a planful and timely manner. Evaluate, troubleshoot, and lead root-cause analysis for production issues and system failures. Determine corrective action and improvements to prevent recurrence. Provide implementation/production support, as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date skills in software development technologies and a broad understanding of the business, business needs, and how applications/assets drive and support the business (understand the greater impact of assets/applications and development work). Provide expertise in the selection and implementation of development tools and best practices, as well as recommendations on priority and asset investments. Establish and maintain productive working relationships with business partners and project teams. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Required Qualifications

  • ·Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field·        
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 3 years in a lead role Strong command of full stack development: Javascript (React/Angular), Node.js or Java/.NET/ Python and SQL·        
  • Hands-on experience with AWS architecture and services (Glue, Lambda, API gateway, IAM, S3, CloudWatch etc.)·        
  • CI/CD tools: Jenkins, Github Actions, Terraform or CloudFormation·        
  • Strong API development and integration experience·        
  • Experience with testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, Selenium)·        
  • Proven ability to led teams and drive cross-functional delivery in a matrix environment


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in the Asset Management, Investment Banking or Wealth Management·        
  • Knowledge of front office platform and workflows: SMA, OMS, PMS and risk engines· Experience with SMA / ETF platforms and fund lifecycle processes·        
  • Familiarity with Snowflake, Python and event driven architecture·        
  • Exposure to regulatory reporting, ESG data pipelines or performance attribution systems

Base Pay Salary

The estimated base salary for this role is $155,000 - $197,000 / year. We have a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy. Your initial total compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographical work location. In addition, most of our roles are eligible for variable pay in the form of bonus, commissions, and/or long-term incentives depending on the role. We also have a competitive and comprehensive benefits program that supports all aspects of your health and well-being, including but not limited to vacation time, sick time, 401(k), and health, dental and life insurance.
