We are looking for you to join our team as a Senior Principal Program Planning Analyst/Scheduler based out of Linthicum, Maryland. This is a full-time onsite position. This position offers the 9/80 work schedule.
What You’ll Get to Do:
The Planner/Scheduler will be hired directly into our Scheduling Center of Excellence to support the AMS Division Senior Scheduling Manager to act as the Division Scheduling Subject Matter Expert.
The MS scheduling organization focuses on skill development and, most importantly, creates a pathway for professional development and progression. The Center of Excellence provides training within a standard, common tool suite that allows for speed, productivity and integration while facilitating compliance and focusing on program execution.
This Planner/Scheduler is responsible for Division-level support including supporting high-visibility program efforts (proposals, baselining efforts, OTB/OTSs, audit prep), division-level reviews (NARs, ISRs, Start-Up Reviews, etc.) as the SME resource, training and development of junior planner/schedulers, process development through partnership with the Division Business Management group, training curriculum creation, and various other division scheduling needs. This role will be expected to complete various short-term supporting stints of programs requiring expert technical ability to steer execution to success and hand-off to permanent scheduling resources. Efforts will include must-win proposals, complex baselining efforts, and various program ‘clean-up’ activities. This position will work closely with the AMS Scheduling Management team and be expected to quickly build relationships with various programmatic teams consisting of program management, technical, production, financial and other supporting staff. This is a career building role that provides exposure to PMO and Business Management Program Leadership, contract management, production operations, risk and opportunity management and program management practices.
The ideal candidate will have strong teambuilding skills, SME-level scheduling knowledge, and possess comprehensive verbal and written communication/presentation skills.
Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- SME support on complex program activities (proposal support, program baselines, audit preparation, and EVMS clean-up). This will include the ability to apply knowledge of product development planning to establish and control the program schedule baseline; coordinate with a multifunctional team to update status for management decision making on complex development and production programs.
- Acting as the Subject Matter Expert representing the AMS Division Scheduling Team in various program events such as Non-Advocate Reviews, Division Start-Up Reviews, Internal Surveillance Reviews, etc.
- Support development of Scheduling curriculum development for the AMS Scheduling team; and lead training classes for AMS scheduling resources on various topics.
- Partner closely with the AMS Division Program Management, Business Management, and Program Excellence teams to further team integration through efforts in process improvement and best practices. This includes a particular focus in support of data analytics to drive decision-making and support of new software tools.
- Providing flexible support of various programs across the Division-portfolio based on priority and need.
- Use project scheduling software to plan and gauge progress against the plan. Identifies performance variances to facilitate focus and intervention on critical areas with the technical (engineering and operations) leads. Works with the program team to develop courses of action and risk mitigation strategies to address performance issues.
- Perform thorough project analysis through metrics reviews and predictive analysis to enhance cost, schedule and technical performance.
- Perform Schedule risk analyses and work with the program manager to resolve risky schedules, critical path issues and network logic conflicts.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with 8 years' related professional experience -OR - a Master's degree with 6 years' related professional experience.
- Will consider 12 years of applied experience in lieu of degree requirement.
- 3 years of project scheduling experience using Microsoft Project, Oracle P6, Deltek Open Plan or other related scheduling tool.
- Experience as a scheduler in NAR/ICE events, Internal Surveillance Reviews, and/or Corporate Audit.
- Prior experience preparing schedule status/information and presenting to team and/or management.
- Involvement across various program life-cycle phases – Pre-EMD, EMD/Development, Production.
- Practiced with Scheduling Analytics and Schedule Risk Assessment tools.
- Experience using MS Office Suite, specifically Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Ability to travel domestically 10% of the time.
- Current, active US Government Secret security clearance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Business Management, Industrial Engineering, Finance, Operations Management, Mathematics, Computer Science or related fields.
- Experience acting as the Subject Matter Expert in NAR/ICE events, Internal Surveillance Reviews, and/or Corporate Audit.
- Experience across various product platforms in the AMS portfolio (and other Divisional efforts).
- Excellence in written and verbal communication, with proven public speaking and presentation skills
- Previous experiences mentoring junior employees.
- Working knowledge of EVMS guidelines and processes.

Primary Level Salary Range: $123,400.00 - $185,000.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
