About the Team
The TMS (Transportation Management System) team builds and operates the platforms that orchestrate shipment execution across our supply chain—tendering, tracking, appointments, and freight workflows.
We deliver scalable, resilient microservices and integrations that connect carriers, distribution centers, and downstream systems through API-first and event-driven architectures.
Our work directly impacts on-time delivery, transportation cost, and customer experience, especially during peak volume and high-availability events.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead the engineering organization responsible for Freight Hawk and Freight Rate Estimations, two strategic Transportation platforms that power shipment visibility, predictive ETA, freight pricing, and transportation planning capabilities across the enterprise.
This leader will be responsible for defining the engineering strategy, leading multiple engineering teams, driving platform modernization, and delivering scalable, highly available solutions that support critical Transportation business capabilities. The role requires close partnership with Product, Architecture, Data Engineering, Infrastructure, and business stakeholders to execute a multi-year technology roadmap while building a high-performing engineering organization.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Core Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor multiple software engineering teams, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Define and execute the engineering strategy for Freight Hawk and Freight Rate Estimations in alignment with Transportation Technology objectives.
- Drive delivery of strategic initiatives across shipment visibility, predictive ETA, freight pricing, carrier integrations, and platform modernization.
- Partner with Product Management to translate business priorities into scalable technical solutions and predictable delivery plans.
- Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture to establish technology direction, engineering standards, and long-term platform evolution.
- Champion cloud-native architectures, event-driven systems, API-first design, observability, resiliency, and operational excellence.
- Improve engineering execution through Agile delivery, release planning, quality engineering, DevSecOps, and engineering metrics.
- Build organizational capability through hiring, coaching, mentoring, succession planning, and talent development.
- Drive platform reliability, security, performance, and scalability while balancing feature delivery with technical debt reduction.
- Manage cross-functional dependencies, stakeholder communication, and engineering risks across multiple Transportation initiatives.
Years of Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 12+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years leading engineering managers or multiple engineering teams.
- Proven experience delivering large-scale distributed systems and enterprise applications in cloud environments.
- Strong experience with microservices, event-driven architectures, REST APIs, messaging platforms, and modern software engineering practices.
- Experience leading Agile software development organizations with a strong focus on engineering excellence and operational reliability.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and organizational leadership skills.
- Demonstrated success in building high-performing engineering teams and driving organizational change.
Education Qualification & Certifications (optional)
Required Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
Skill Set Required
- Engineering Leadership & People Management – Experience leading multiple engineering teams/managers, coaching talent, performance management, hiring, and succession planning.
- Large-Scale Distributed Systems – Strong understanding of highly available, scalable enterprise platforms and distributed architectures.
- Microservices & Event-Driven Architecture – Hands-on understanding of microservices, REST APIs, Kafka/event streaming, asynchronous processing, and integration patterns.
- Cloud & Platform Engineering – Experience with cloud-native applications, Kubernetes/container platforms, CI/CD, DevSecOps, scalability, resiliency, and observability.
- Data-Intensive Systems – Experience building platforms involving high-volume transactional/event data, data quality, data consistency, and near-real-time processing.
- Engineering Strategy & Architecture – Ability to influence architecture, modernization strategy, technical debt management, and long-term platform evolution.
- Delivery & Execution Leadership – Proven ability to manage multiple roadmaps, dependencies, risks, and large cross-functional initiatives.
- Stakeholder Management – Strong partnership with Product, Architecture, Business, Data, Infrastructure, and other engineering organizations.

- Supply Chain / Transportation / Logistics domain experience
- Freight pricing/rating, rate shopping, contract/rate management, reconciliation, or freight payment experience
- Predictive ETA, optimization, or AI/ML-enabled decisioning
- Kafka, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and modern observability platforms
- API management and enterprise integration patterns
- SRE practices, performance engineering, disaster recovery, and production operational excellence
