The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

Serves as lead Finance and Grant Manager for the Department of Psychology at the University of Rochester. Reports directly to the Chair. Responsible for the department's overall financial performance including developing annual operating/capital budget, adjunct budget and financial forecasting. Supervisors staff account and provides approvals on all departmental reimbursements and financial transactions. Serves as grant administrator for multiple grant applications and oversees grant submissions with university grant offices. Understands compliance and regulations of major grant foundations (NIH, NSF) and is CLASP certified. Utilizes university-wide resources to identify targeted grant opportunities. Maintains strong relationships within the University of Rochester's infrastructure, especially with the office of the Dean of Grants & Contracts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Provides detailed financial & administrative information for grant applications and coordinates grant application submission with University grant offices.
  • Manages grant applications including creating complex budget spreadsheets, justifications, and projections.

  • Manages functions of Pre-Award through Post-Award grant procedures.

  • Develops and maintains detailed analysis of various statistical and financial information to be used for financial reporting and reimbursement.
  • Performs analysis and tests to ascertain integrity of accounting data, account balances and timeliness of reporting. Makes day-to-day interpretations and decisions on the accounting treatment of financial transactions.
  • Maintains contact with University service departments to ensure timely and accurate reporting. Contacts Account Managers to discuss fluctuations and variances in monthly detail activity.
  • Designs and develops detail specifications for financial management system to ensure timely and accurate generation of reports to guide senior management. Enhances and maintains accounting and application of reimbursements, principals and procedures.
  • Reviews, analyzes and develops control systems for specific funds and reimbursement rate applications.

  • As assigned, assumes responsibility for special projects involving financial planning and recommending changes. Assumes responsibility for the project, establishes time tables, activity plans and conducts the efforts of any subordinate staff.

  • Supervises the staff accountant, including hosting regular meetings, leading training and development activities, and performing regular reviews

  • Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration or related field and 5 years relevant experience in finance and grants required
  • Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Must have CLASP certification, or obtain it within the year
