The City of Fort Worth is seeking a Senior Engineering Technician to support the Transportation and Public Works (TPW) Department, Capital Delivery Division. This position provides technical engineering and project-delivery support for transportation and public infrastructure capital projects from design through construction. The position works closely with project managers, engineering consultants, utility companies, contractors, inspectors, City departments, and other stakeholders to help keep projects coordinated, documented, and moving through key delivery milestones.
The Senior Engineering Technician performs complex technical civil engineering work and supports design review, utility coordination, construction and field activities, project research, records and document review, schedule and milestone tracking, and coordination of consultant deliverables. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, sound technical judgment, and the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities in a fast-paced capital delivery environment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
- Five (5) years of increasingly responsible technical engineering experience in the areas of drafting, design, and/or survey
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting municipal capital improvement projects, including transportation, roadway, drainage, traffic, utility, or other public infrastructure projects
- Experience coordinating design reviews, project milestones, consultant deliverables, utility conflicts, comments, action items, and stakeholder responses through multiple stages of project delivery
- Experience reviewing engineering plans, drawings, specifications, estimates, schedules, technical reports, and construction documents for completeness, coordination, and constructability
- Experience with project-delivery applications, with strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
The Senior Engineering Technician job responsibilities include:
- Design review and technical documentation: Support established design review stages and project-delivery milestones; distribute plans and supporting documents; track review comments, responses, action items, and deliverables; and maintain organized project records
- Utility, consultant, and stakeholder coordination: Coordinate with utility companies, engineering consultants, contractors, inspectors, project managers, City departments, property owners, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve project conflicts, utility issues, review comments, commitments, and other items affecting project delivery
- Field, research, and technical support: Conduct field visits, inspections, site investigations, infrastructure research, and technical analysis; document existing conditions and project issues; prepare summaries and reports; maintain accurate records

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Medium Work — Depending on assignment, positions in this classification may require exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
