JOB DESCRIPTION

Job title: Senior Business Analyst (India)

Division/Department: Information Technology

Location: CA India Office

Reports to: Director, IT Business Partnership

Date Approved by P&C: XX/XX/XXXX

Last Revised by P&C: XX/XX/XXXX

Position ID #:  XXXXXXXXXX

Summary:

Senior Business Analysts are trusted partners to the business functions they serve, with credibility built on deep knowledge of CA’s organization, fluency in how peers and the broader industry tackle similar challenges, and command of the functional discipline itself. They shape how problems are framed, anticipate downstream impacts, stay present in the business’s operating rhythm, and invest in the broader BA team through mentoring and raising the quality bar.

This is a generalist role supporting multiple business areas and adapting to the highest-priority needs of the IT Business Partnership team.

Essential duties/responsibilities:

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to business stakeholders; build relationships with senior leaders and anticipate needs before they are articulated.
  • Lead discovery for complex, multi-team initiatives and facilitate workshops that produce decisions, not just documentation.
  • Reframe problem statements, identify root causes, and turn ambiguous needs into clear, actionable requirements with minimal rework.
  • Drive cross-functional alignment across competing priorities, escalating to IT Business Partnering leadership when needed.
  • Shape refinement and sprint planning; own requirements quality and UAT coverage across teams, and drive post-deployment validation and change management.
  • Own process maps and documentation for the assigned domain(s), and work flexibly across business areas as priorities evolve.
  • Build and govern the domain knowledge base and AI-assisted workflows: set validation standards, maintain an agent-readiness map, and review agent accuracy, with documented human review of outputs.
  • Collaborate with US-based stakeholders and distributed teams, managing handoffs so context and decisions move across time zones.
  • Mentor peers and contribute to BA standards, templates, hiring, onboarding, and the community of practice.

Success measures:

  • Business partners describe the Sr. BA as a trusted advisor, evidenced by proactive outreach and first-call behavior.
  • Requirements for complex initiatives are complete, root-cause-driven, and traceable to delivered solutions; rework from requirements gaps is rare and declining.
  • Domain documentation and knowledge artifacts are complete, SME-validated, and current; agent accuracy trends upward each quarter.
  • Mentored BAs show measurable improvement in requirements quality over six months.

Required Job Skills and Abilities:

  • 5+ years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, data analysis, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in cross-functional project leadership and communication.
  • 3+ years of experience in requirement gathering and documenting user stories.
  • 3+ years of Business Analyst or SME experience with enterprise business systems and data platforms (e.g., CRM, ERP, finance/HCM, Snowflake).
  • High proficiency in process mapping tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Miro) and a solid understanding of SDLC (Agile/Waterfall).
  • Ability to work effectively with US stakeholders and IT team members across different time zones.

We’d also like to see:

  • Business Analyst certifications such as CBAP or CCBA.
  • Salesforce or other enterprise platform or data tool certifications.
  • Experience in EdTech or Publishing.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, or a related field or equivalent on-the-job experience.

Travel: Minimal

Classification: Non-Exempt or Exempt

People Manager/Individual Contributor: Individual Contributor

Hours: 40

Background Check and Frequency: Criminal, Credit, and/or Driving (Review the Background Check Policy here)
