About the Role:At Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, every treatment, procedure, and breakthrough in care relies on a strong team working behind the scenes to support our patients and providers.
We're looking for an experienced Specialty Medical Biller to help ensure accurate billing, reimbursement, and claim management for some of the most advanced cancer treatments available today. This role plays an essential part in supporting complex services such as Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), CAR-T therapy, Gamma Knife radiosurgery, robotic-assisted procedures, and other specialized oncology treatments.
Success in this role requires a strong understanding of medical billing, insurance requirements, and claims management, along with the ability to navigate complex reimbursement scenarios while maintaining a patient-centered approach. You'll work closely with clinical, coding, revenue cycle, and operational teams to help ensure patients receive the care they need while supporting the financial sustainability of a world-renowned cancer center.
The starting annual salary for this position is $62,477 and this can include a full comprehensive benefits package.
What You'll Do:
As a key member of our revenue cycle team, you will:
Prepare and submit complex inpatient and outpatient medical claims
Ensure accurate billing for high-cost medications, biologics, implants, and specialized oncology procedures
Review documentation, coding, and charges to support accurate reimbursement
Verify authorizations and help ensure services meet payer requirements before claims are submitted
Investigate, resolve, and appeal denied claims
Monitor payer policies and reimbursement guidelines to support compliance and billing accuracy
Manage patient and payer billing inquiries with professionalism and compassion
Identify opportunities to improve processes, reduce denials, and prevent revenue loss
Support audits and compliance initiatives
Partner with clinical, coding, and operational teams to optimize billing outcomes and the patient experience

Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience1. Associate's degree in Health Information Management, Business, or a related field and the equivalent of three (3) years of medical billing experience in oncology or complex procedural services; or
2. High School diploma or High School Equivalency diploma and the equivalent of five (5) years of medical billing experience in oncology or complex procedural services.
NOTE:
Degrees must be conferred by an accredited school, college, or university, or by an institution recognized by Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center and/or Health Research Incorporated as adhering to acceptable educational standards.
