About this Specialist, Wildfire role at World Economic Forum

World Economic Forum · Onsite · Geneva

(temporary contract, October 2026 to September 2028, Geneva based)

The World Economic Forum brings together leaders from business, government, academia, and civil society to address global challenges and improve the state of the world.

Within the Forum’s Centre for Nature and Climate, the Forest Future Alliance (FFA) mobilises private-sector and philanthropic action to advance the conservation, restoration, and stewardship of forest landscapes as critical infrastructure for economic resilience.

Housed within the Forest Future Alliance, the Global Wildfire Leadership Network supports private sector and philanthropic investors to navigate the complex risks of wildfire and build resilience across landscapes, forested and non-forested alike, through collective action, solution-thinking, and innovation.

Why we are hiring

The Global Wildfire Leadership Network is scaling its member network and delivery portfolio. We are seeking a Programme Specialist to support day-to-day network coordination, member engagement, knowledge exchange, and high-quality delivery of global and regional events and reporting.

Reporting line

The Programme Specialist will report to the Wildfire Community Lead and work in close collaboration with the Forest Future Alliance team and relevant colleagues across the World Economic Forum.

Responsibilities include

Programme and network management

  • Support the coordination and day-to-day management of the network, including workplans, calendars, and member engagement rhythms.

  • Support member onboarding and ongoing “member journey” delivery in coordination with the wider FFA programme.

Knowledge, insights and communications

  • Coordinate regular member exchanges like community calls and peer sessions with support for knowledge capture, synthesis, and follow-through.

  • Support delivery of a wildfire events and communications plan with the FFA team to amplify priorities, progress, and outcomes.

Global and regional events delivery

  • Support planning and delivery of key events (session design, speaker coordination, briefing packs, run-of-show, follow-up actions, and tracking outcomes and commitments).

Operations, tracking and reporting

  • Maintain programme infrastructure (contact lists/CRM, calendars, workplans) and track deliverables, outputs, and impact indicators to ensure consistent reporting to internal leadership and network members.

Requirements and experience

  • Bachelor’s and/or master’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, resilience, public policy, or a related field.

  • 2–5 years of relevant experience in programme delivery, partnerships, networks, or nature/climate-related initiatives. Background in climate, nature and/or sustainable finance a plus.

  • Strong project management and operations skills, including tracking deliverables across multiple workstreams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across diverse stakeholder groups. Fluent in English; additional languages are a plus.

  • Confident communicator with experience translating complex topics into clear updates and event materials.

  • Emulate team values of servant leadership, integrity, collaboration, inclusion, and optimism.

  • Build trust-based relationships with diverse stakeholders and work effectively across cultures and time zones.
