The successful candidate will support highly complex Canadian tax planning, research, and tax controversy management. The candidate will work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams to bring value and technical expertise to both department and company-wide initiatives, including organic growth projects, reorganizations, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and cash tax management.

What You Will Do:

  • Support tax planning initiatives, including corporate structuring, financing, repatriation, and cash tax management, while preparing memorandums and presentations and collaborating across the organization.

  • Provide tax advice on transactions, balancing technical requirements with commercial objectives and constraints.

  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve business processes and optimize transaction structures.

  • Conduct complex tax research and analysis, delivering strategic insights and ad hoc guidance on a wide range of tax matters.

  • Monitor legislative and policy changes, assess business impacts, and support the development of proactive tax planning strategies.

  • Partner across Tax functions to manage tax risk, support audits, ensure appropriate reporting and disclosure, and foster knowledge sharing and professional development.

Who You Are:

  • You possess a university degree in Business Administration or a related subject area. An equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience working in a Canadian corporate tax role or relevant experience.

  • Chartered Professional Accountant designation or law degree with experience in tax planning.

  • Completion of CPA In-Depth tax course.

  • Completion of CPA In-Depth Corporate Reorganizations Course and CPA International Tax Course would be an asset.

  • Strong technical expertise in Canadian income tax law, with proven tax planning, research, and advisory experience.

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills related to income tax reporting, financial accounting, and complex business issues.

  • Collaborative and self-motivated professional with strong communication, judgment, and strategic thinking skills, capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • A high-paced office environment.

  • Limited travel (<5%).
