About this Sound Lab Co-op (Spring 2027) role at Regal Rexnord

Position Summary
The Sound Lab Engineering Co-op provides engineering support for sound and vibration analysis activities related to customer returns and complaints, cost reduction initiatives, and new product development. In this role, you will work side by side with the Senior Analytical Engineer of Sound and Vibration, utilizing the anechoic chamber, vibration measurement equipment, and analytical software to evaluate product performance and identify improvement opportunities. The Co-op will gain hands-on experience in acoustic testing, data analysis, problem-solving, and product development within a collaborative engineering environment.
Major Responsibilities
Support acoustic and vibration testing activities for customer returns, complaints, and product performance investigations.
Assist with sound and vibration analysis for cost reduction ("cost-out") projects.
Conduct testing and data collection for new product development initiatives.
Operate and support testing within the anechoic chamber and other sound measurement environments.
Utilize analytical software and testing equipment to collect, interpret, and report test results.
Work alongside the Senior Analytical Engineer of Sound and Vibration to diagnose performance issues and identify root causes.
Assist in developing and executing test plans for acoustic and vibration evaluations.
Analyze test data and prepare technical reports, summaries, and recommendations.
Support prototype testing and validation activities.
Maintain accurate engineering documentation related to testing, analysis, and project activities.
Collaborate with engineering, quality, manufacturing, and product development teams to support business objectives.
Participate in continuous improvement efforts focused on product performance, reliability, and customer satisfaction.
Required Education, Experience & Skills
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
No prior experience required.
GPA of 3.0 or higher.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with high attention to detail.
Ability to interpret technical data and communicate findings effectively.
Self-directed work ethic with a positive, can-do attitude.
Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Mechanical Engineering students are preferred and should have completed coursework in:

Advanced Engineering Mathematics
Electrical Engineering students are preferred and should have completed coursework in:
