About this Solution Architect role at Apadmi
Solution Architect
Engineering Team | Amsterdam (Hybrid)
We're looking for a Solution Architect based in our Amsterdam office who can own the big picture, turning client and business objectives into coherent, end-to-end technical solutions across backend, cloud, and mobile. In this role, you’ll define the architectural standards and patterns that our development teams will use to build transformational digital products. You'll act as the senior technical voice in client conversations, bids, and pitches, holding real ownership over Apadmi's architectural quality bar and practice evolution.
Operating as a trusted technical authority within our vibrant Houthavens hub in Amsterdam, you will bridge high-level strategy and hands-on delivery across concurrent, multi-disciplinary projects. You’ll be in the room when critical architecture decisions need to be made and stood behind, taking ultimate accountability for technical solutions while empowering engineering teams to own their execution. Your role balances client-facing commercial influence with internal mentorship, shaping the future technical vision for top-tier European brands.
What you'll be working on
As a Solution Architect, you will design robust architectures and set the technical standards that guide our engineering squads. You will take a leading role in pre-sales and pitches, mapping out solution roadmaps and building consensus across clients and third parties. Alongside governing code quality and infrastructure security, you will mentor engineers, lead architectural reviews, and step in directly on high-complexity or high-risk initiatives.
- Translate complex business requirements into coherent technical solutions spanning backend, cloud, and mobile ecosystems.
- Act as the senior technical authority in client conversations, building consensus and guiding stakeholders toward a shared future vision.
- Take a leading role in pre-sales, bids, and pitches as a subject-matter expert, shaping technical narratives and proposals.
- Set, ratify, and govern architecture standards, design patterns, and Clean Code principles across delivery teams.
- Take ultimate accountability for infrastructure and architecture decisions, resolving complex dependencies across concurrent projects.
- Define high-level architecture documentation (C4, HLD, FDD) for development teams to translate into detailed technical designs.
- Mentor engineers through whiteboard sessions, pairing, and code reviews, stepping in directly on high-risk or complex projects.
- Feed lessons learned from active projects back into Apadmi's overarching architecture practice to continuously elevate delivery standards.
What you’ll bring to the team
You are a composed, persuasive technical leader who excels at articulating complex architectural concepts to everyone from engineers to executive stakeholders. You combine full-stack experience with deep cloud infrastructure knowledge and possess the commercial confidence to "sell" a solution or push back constructively when a proposed direction falls short. Calm under pressure, you excel at juggling agency priorities while empowering teams to take ownership of their deliverables.
- Hands-on background with Node.js, TypeScript, and Google Cloud, plus working knowledge of mobile technologies (Swift, Kotlin, Flutter, or KMP).
- Deep technical knowledge of cloud services (Compute, Storage, Identity, Governance), cloud networking, and modern application security.
- Strong grasp of Domain-Driven Design (DDD), layered architecture, and industry-standard documentation tools (e.g., C4 model).
- Exceptional ability to articulate technical architecture and "sell" solutions to both technical teams and senior client decision-makers.
- Confident mapping current-state vs. future-state architecture, with the credibility to challenge assumptions and push back when necessary.
- Passionate about empowering development teams to own solutions, with a structured approach to mentoring and building engineering culture.
- Skilled at managing multiple technical dependencies, priorities, and stakeholders across fast-paced concurrent projects.
- Deep belief in Clean Code standards paired with the practical judgment to know when to strictly enforce vs. adapt patterns.
