About the Role 

As a Software Solutions Consultant, you will connect prospective customers with the technical capabilities of DCS DATUM software. You will help customers understand how DATUM can support their operations, gather and document project requirements, and guide opportunities through the internal scoping, pricing, and proposal process. 

You will work closely with Solutions Business Development, Sales, System Engineering, DATUM Development, Estimating, Implementation, and Contracts Management. Approximately 50 percent of your time will be customer facing, including discovery conversations, technical presentations, demonstrations, and trade show participation. 

DCS will value your ability to understand technical needs, communicate software concepts clearly, and keep opportunities moving across multiple teams. You will be most successful in this role if you are analytical, organized, comfortable working directly with customers, and able to translate early requirements into clear technical documentation.

In This Role, You Will 

• Lead technical discovery conversations with prospective customers to understand their operational needs, system requirements, and desired outcomes. 

• Scope DATUM software opportunities, including customization requests, system compatibility, and initial project requirements. 

• Serve as a customer facing technical resource throughout the sales process, providing clear guidance and helping manage expectations. 

•  Deliver accessible DATUM presentations and demonstrations that explain platform capabilities, infrastructure, and data management workflows to technical and nontechnical audiences. 

• Develop Supademo content and manage software content used in the DCS demonstration center. 

• Support remote and in person trade shows by presenting DATUM capabilities and responding to technical questions. 

• Partner with Sales, Solutions Business Development, System Engineering, DATUM Development, Estimating, and Implementation to develop accurate pricing and customer proposals. 

• Provide DATUM research and development teams with insight from customer discovery conversations, project scoping, and sales pipeline inquiries. 

• Draft commercial agreements in partnership with the Principal of Software and DCS Contracts Management. 

• Develop level one Software Design Specifications for internal review and coordinate the transition to level two documentation during detailed design. 

• Create internal technical guides and customer facing knowledge base content that make DATUM information easier to understand and apply. 

We’re Excited About You Because 

• You have at least three years of experience in Warehouse Execution System software technical sales, software consulting, or software implementation. 

• You have experience gathering technical requirements, evaluating system compatibility, and documenting software project scopes. 

• You can explain software capabilities, processes, and technical concepts clearly to both technical and nontechnical audiences. 

• You are comfortable managing customer relationships, leading meetings, and navigating escalated technical discussions. 

• You can collaborate across sales, engineering, software development, estimating, implementation, and contracts teams. 

• You are organized and analytical, with the ability to move opportunities from early discovery through pricing and proposal development. 

• You are able to travel approximately 30 to 40 percent, with increased travel for trade shows from February through May.
