About this Software Engineer, Web (Full stack) role at amo
We are looking for someone to join us as an early member of the Web team, to build and own web platforms that turn large amounts of data into products people love to use. Maps and location data sit at the core of what we build, and we’re looking for an engineer who can take a platform from data model to pixel.
In the initial months, you’ll work closely with the team, gradually taking ownership of central systems and features. Given our stage, we’re seeking versatile engineers comfortable contributing across the frontend, the backend and the data.
We value team members who delve deep into their respective domains, aiming to cultivate a team of subject matter experts with a high sense of ownership. This commitment to expertise is an expectation for every team member.
As a Web Engineer, your day-to-day will include:
Platform Engineering
Designing and building robust, scalable web platforms end-to-end in TypeScript: APIs, services, data access layers and the UI on top of them. You’ll make the architectural decisions and set the patterns that others build on.
Workflows & Data Pipelines
Architecting durable, long-running workflows and background processes on our workflow orchestration system (Restate). You’ll also build the pipelines that move data between our warehouse, our databases and our products, reliably and at scale.
Data Modeling & Visualization
Modeling large datasets so they can be queried and visualized fast. That includes choosing the right aggregations, pre-computations and storage across Postgres and BigQuery, and turning them into visualizations that are clear, interactive and beautiful. You’ll handle data with privacy in mind from the very first design decision.
Maps & Geospatial Data
Bringing geospatial data to life on the web. You’ll render large amounts of location data on interactive maps, and keep them as fast and polished as they are insightful.
Roadmap Creation and Ideation
Contributing actively to the roadmap: identifying the right tradeoffs and bringing ideas from both a product and an engineering perspective.
Owning your scope
You’ll be responsible for the architecture, performance, monitoring and reliability of everything you ship. We value engineers who take full ownership of their scope, and who proactively address issues before anyone asks.
Your Skills & Experience:
Please indicate your years of experience on the application form.
7+ years of professional experience building SaaS products or data-heavy platforms.
High proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, and in modern web frameworks (React, Next.js…).
Strong experience with Postgres and data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, or similar).
Solid understanding of data modeling for analytics and for visualizing large volumes of data.
A privacy-aware approach to handling sensitive data, such as aggregation and anonymization.
Comfortable working autonomously across frontend and backend.
Experience with workflow orchestration and long-running processes (Restate, Temporal, or similar) is a big plus.
Expertise in map rendering and geospatial data visualization (Mapbox GL, MapLibre, deck.gl, or similar) is a big plus.
Experience with WebGL or GPU rendering is a plus.
Comfortable working closely with backend and data teams across a polyglot stack is a plus.
Knowledge of infrastructure (Bazel, GCP, Kubernetes) is a plus.
Passion and experience building great products. We’d love to hear about things you’ve shipped!
AI as a multiplier
AI is part of how we build every day. We’re looking for engineers with a real grasp of these tools, who use them to multiply their output and not to make up for missing expertise. You should be able to drive an agent through a complex change, judge what it produces, spot where it’s subtly wrong, and stand behind every line that ships.
The bar
We’re looking for exceptional engineers, and we set the bar high on purpose. In return, you’ll get real ownership from day one, products used by millions of people, a team that ships in days rather than quarters, a modern stack with top-tier tooling, and colleagues who will push you to grow.
You don’t need to speak French to apply (and you don’t need perfect English; we’ll help you ramp up quickly).
Life at amo:
To ensure that everyone is set up for success within our way of working, we work together onsite 5 days a week.
We wanted to make sure coming to the office was as comfortable as possible for you:
We chose a location in central Paris, near Opera (Metro lines 3,8,9 and RER A).
We have a beautiful Parisian-style office with high ceilings, balconies, and huge windows. So a lot of natural light!
Because life outside of work should also be stress-free, we cover:
Health care (100% coverage).
Maternity Leave, Paternity Leave, Second Parent Leave (salary maintained at 100%).
Vacation days: 8-9 weeks (total) per year - (European summer? 🥹😎).
5 weeks of paid time off (by the state);
1-2 additional weeks (RTT, based on our company contract);

We shut down entirely twice a year, two weeks in summer and one week in winter to allow everyone to truly recharge and to avoid prolonged slowdowns (especially in the summer). These pauses are part of your total vacation time, giving everyone a real chance to unplug and recharge. No Slack, no email, no FOMO.
