Job Description:
This job is responsible for developing and delivering complex requirements to accomplish business goals. Key responsibilities of the job include ensuring that software is developed to meet functional, non-functional and compliance requirements, and solutions are well designed with maintainability/ease of integration and testing built-in from the outset. Job expectations include a strong knowledge of development and testing practices common to the industry and design and architectural patterns.

Position Summary:

Software Engineer III is responsible for the end to end design, engineering, and maturation of the GBP strategic payments tracking and observability tool. This role provides deep technical oversight across payment flows, systems integration, and platform dependencies, ensuring resilient architecture and reliable delivery of a critical enterprise capability. It maintains institutional knowledge of complex systems, leads engineering standards, and drives the technical roadmap that supports operational transparency, client experience, and risk reduction. The position is essential to safeguarding continuity, platform stability, and long term strategic evolution of payment observability - in addition to helping define and expand SRE across the org.

Responsibilities:

  • Codes solutions and unit test to deliver a requirement/story per the defined acceptance criteria and compliance requirements
  • Designs, develops, and modifies architecture components, application interfaces, and solution enablers while ensuring principal architecture integrity is maintained
  • Mentors other software engineers and coach team on Continuous Integration and Continuous Development (CI-CD) practices and automating tool stack
  • Executes story refinement, definition of requirements, and estimating work necessary to realize a story through the delivery lifecycle
  • Performs spike/proof of concept as necessary to mitigate risk or implement new ideas
  • Automates manual release activities
  • Designs, develops, and maintains automated test suites (integration, regression, performance)

Required Qualifications:

  • 5-8 years of applicable experience
  • Strong proficiency in C# with experience building scalable, high performance backend services
  • Hands on experience with Python for data processing, automation, and integration scripting
  • Deep understanding of SQL with ability to design, optimise, and query large, complex relational databases
  • Experience working with MongoDB including schema design, performance tuning, and document oriented data modelling
  • Strong capability in modern frontend development using React, including reusable component design and API integration
  • Solid understanding of microservices architectures, API design, and distributed systems patterns
  • Experience building and maintaining enterprise grade platforms with high throughput and reliability requirements
  • Ability to design resilient systems with appropriate error handling, observability, and fault tolerance
  • Strong debugging and problem solving skills across complex integrated systems
  • Experience delivering technical roadmaps, setting engineering standards, and guiding development best practices
