About this Software Engineer role at Singular
Data Collection & Integrations Engineer Extract
Singular is a marketing intelligence platform that unifies marketing analytics, giving marketers actionable insights from previously siloed data. By connecting marketing, attribution, and business data across platforms, Singular helps companies understand performance and make better decisions with their data.
Our next generation of products goes beyond marketing measurement. Extract is Singular’s data movement platform, built to help companies reliably collect, transform, and move data between the tools and systems they use every day.
Singular works with some of the world’s leading companies, including Uber, Lyft, Airbnb, LinkedIn, Rovio, and Warner Bros. Singular is backed by Norwest Venture Partners, General Catalyst, Thomvest Ventures, Method Capital, Translink Capital, DCM, and Telstra Ventures.
About the Role
We are looking for a strong Data Collection & Integrations Engineer to join the Extract team and help build the infrastructure and integrations that power our data platform.
In this role, you will build and maintain integrations that enable Extract to collect, process, and move data across a wide range of external platforms, APIs, databases, and cloud environments.
You’ll work on the full integration lifecycle: understanding third-party systems and APIs, designing connectors, implementing authentication and data collection flows, handling schema and API changes, and making sure integrations remain reliable as both customer usage and data volumes grow.
This is a highly hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys figuring out how different systems work, dealing with imperfect and constantly changing external APIs, and building robust infrastructure around them.
You will work closely with Product and Engineering to expand Extract’s integration ecosystem and help customers connect their data quickly and reliably.
What You’ll Do
Design, build, and maintain data collection integrations and connectors with external platforms.
Integrate with REST, GraphQL, webhook, and other third-party APIs.
Build scalable data pipelines for collecting, processing, normalizing, and moving large volumes of data.
Implement authentication mechanisms including OAuth, API keys, tokens, and other authorization flows.
Handle real-world integration challenges such as pagination, rate limits, retries, API inconsistencies, schema changes, and data freshness.
Build infrastructure and reusable frameworks that make it faster and easier to develop new integrations.
Monitor and improve the reliability, performance, and scalability of existing connectors.
Investigate complex integration and data-quality issues across multiple systems.
Work closely with Product to understand customer data requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Take ownership of integrations from initial design through production and ongoing maintenance.
What You Bring
The ideal candidate combines strong software engineering fundamentals with curiosity about data, APIs, and how different systems communicate.
5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical degree, or equivalent practical experience.
Strong backend engineering skills and experience building production systems.
Strong experience working with RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL APIs.
Solid understanding of web technologies and protocols, including HTTP, OAuth, authentication, cookies, and webhooks.
Experience building or maintaining data pipelines, integrations, connectors, or data ingestion systems.
Strong SQL skills and experience working with structured and semi-structured data.
Experience with Python or another backend programming language.
Ability to independently investigate third-party APIs and turn their documentation and behavior into reliable production integrations.
Strong ownership mentality and ability to work independently in a fast-moving environment.
Advantages
Experience with Rust is a strong advantage.
Experience building ETL/ELT, Reverse ETL, data integration, or data movement products.
Experience working with cloud storage and data platforms across AWS, GCP, or Azure.
Experience integrating with databases, data warehouses, SaaS applications, advertising platforms, or analytics systems.
Experience designing connector frameworks or integration SDKs.
Experience working with high-volume or distributed data systems.
At Singular, we encourage engineers to develop a deep understanding of our customers and the problems they are solving, rather than simply implementing specifications. You’ll have significant ownership, work on technically challenging problems, and directly influence the evolution of Extract and its integration ecosystem.
